Shaka brah. Close your eyes and think of the most stereotypical California surfer dude. Now open your eyes. There he is! Your server, right in little ol' Cannon Beach. I can't remember his name, but he was super fun, super chill, much brah. He'll be on American Ninja Warrior in the fall, even. Nice kid. The food and drink were very good. Great beer list, lots of choices from local breweries. The fish tacos were very good, and possessed the kind of aggressive spiciness that would make a lesser man cry. We come to Cannon Beach often, and while there are a lot of adorable places to eat while in town, we always seem to wander over to Lumberyard.

My wife and I have visited Lumberyard several times over the years. Most recently, last night. We have generally been happy with food and service. However, last night was a tad disappointing. We started off with onion rings and they were very good although pricey at 10.99 for eight rings. My wife had to ask twice for lemons for our water. Her glass of wine came out quickly. She had chicken Alfredo and it looked dry, although she did not complain. She had to ask for butter when none came with her bread. I had the Hawaiian pizza - which I've had before - and found it acceptable although small at 15.99. We passed on desert and wound up with a $56 bill. Since the server was friendly and responsive despite being very busy, we left her 20+%. Overall, this is a respectable place to eat, but I do think the prices are too high for what you get, undoubtedly due to it's proximity to the beach. That said, I think we will be looking for an alternative on our next visit to Cannon Beach.

Food 3.3 Service 2.5 Wait 3.0 Atmosphere 2.3 The food was average at best. The burgers are small and way too thick. Fries were actually very good compared to others I've had in cannon beach. I was often left with an empty glass and waiting quite a while for food and then our check. We had a 30 min wait for a party off three on a Sunday night. The decor was nice but not in good condition. Overall it got the job done.

Started out w/ corn bread, wings (spicy), and dirty fries for appetizers. Corn bread was ok, a little dry gritty, hot wings tasted more like tabasco and the dirty fries was good. Covered w/ balsamic , mushrooms, pepperocini and parmesan. Different but good blend of flavors. The special, rotisserie chicken, corn and bake potato. Chicken was a little dry and the baked potato only came w/ butter and sour cream. The side of corn was my favorite part of the meal. The food was average but the service was exceptional. Our waiter Leo was very attentive and friendly. I will have to come back again and try a different dish.

Meh! It was nice that we could have our dog with us but food and drinks were mediocre at best. It was most definitely not a $50 meal. Wait staff was friendly but inattentive. My husband's beer was skunky, which they happily replaced with the other IPA on tap, my margarita was way too expensive for what it was and our waters came at the end of our meal. Not terrible for a beach restaurant, but most likely won't return.

Great bar, lots of beer and food options. I stopped in for dinner and loved everything I had. Dirty fries = INCREDIBLE. Pot pie of the day = comfort food at its best. Pint of Ft George Vortex IPA = cold and refreshing. The bartender was great too, very personable and efficient. Prices were decent especially for Cannon Beach.

The onion rings were delicious. The stein of Guinness on tap was good. The french fries were good. The pint of Widmer Hefeweissen my husband ordered was good. The burgers are small diameter but thicker than usual, and "didn't taste bad", according to my husband. The "secret sauce" was gross, thankfully it was ordered "on the side" so it didn't manage to ruin the meal. The chipotle ranch was gross too - might be the same sauce. Tasted identical... Identically gross. The clam chowder wasn't the best I've had, although it was edible and satiated my need for chowder. It was served with salt-less oyster crackers. I like salt on my crackers. Although, considering the chowder was a bit too salty, it's probably a good thing the crackers weren't salted at all. Thankfully our server let us know that the Rockfish (which is what both my husband and I had our eyes on) is a very fishy-fish. So just know, if you don't like fishy-fish, don't order that. Basically, it met our needs and we didn't die from eating here. We won't be returning to Cannon Beach so I doubt we'll be returning here either. But if we were forced to go to that area again, this would be the place I'd opt for if we were hungry, because honestly, in that place, the other food options weren't really options to opt for.

It's okay. Not terrible, but not too good either. Just mediocre. Service is good and atmosphere is fine. But the food isn't too good - certainly not worth the price, and we came for lunch. The cornbread was good. But that's about it. I had the daily special - salmon tacos. Salmon overlooked. Tacos heavy with mayo and relish. Beans not too tasty at all. Wife had the chili. She said it was fine, but not too good. You can get better fish cheaper at Toms.

FOOD Food is average to below average. My son ordered mac-n-cheese ($10) and it looked and tasted like a $2 dish. My wife ordered the BBQ chicken salad - it was delivered incorrectly (she asked them to hold an ingredient and they didn't). My baby back ribs were good - but corn was way overcooked (tasted like someone boiled it for 30 minutes). And my daughters pork sandwich was dry and rather tasteless. Corn bread was excellent (just not very much if you're sharing it as an appetizer - one small piece per person, maybe 3 bites). SERVICE Very poor service. Food was delivered by - what appeared to be - a manager. He promised to be "right back" with something that was forgotten, but then never reappeared. Refillable drinks were not refilled (I finally chased down another server to get some more water, and ask for a pepsi refill). Our server never checked in to see if our food was ok (it wasn't - sandwich was dry, ingredients wrong on salad). This is at a place where you cannot get a meal for 4 at lunch for under $75 - not some cheap, serve yourself fast food place. Unacceptable. VALUE Super disappointing. Expensive tourist restaurant, so my expectations were low. But when you look at their prices, their service...they should be charging about 1/2 of what they charge. Their space is really nice, and their menu looks good (better than the food). I hope the management staff reads this and takes time to talk to servers and the chefs - seems like restaurant management 101 to do things like refill water, check in right away when food is delivered... p.s. This was my second time eating here, as I wanted to give the place another chance after eating here 2 years ago.

Place was a disappointment after reading a couple great reviews. We ordered three things: soda water with limes, a bowl of clam chowder, and a PBR. The soda water took about seven minutes to get out, that was first, followed by the usual glass of water. Ten minutes after that our chowder came out, it was pretty good but tainted by a bad experience. After we finished our chowder and another ten minutes later, my beer finally came out. It took 20 damn minutes for a beer, seriously! I didn't even want to drink it after that. When we got our bill, we were charged $2 for soda water. For reals, who does that?! Bad time, will not be returning.

Never tried this place before. I've spent lots of time in Cannon Beach without making it to this place. It's clean and has nice decor. The food. Husband ordered the rock fish sandwich, I had the French dip. Husband liked the rock fish, it was a big portion and the fries were tasty! My French dip was average. Tasted greasy, so I ate half. Good service. Quick time to table for our order.

This was a mother of a disappointment. After going to Cannon Beach to see Haystack Rock I was starving and the name Lumberyard Rotisserie and Grill drew me in thinking I could pick myself up something with meat in it that would hit the spot. We walked in and were not sure if we were to seat ourselves or if someone would seat us. There was no sign and we stood there for a bit and no one said anything to us. We then asked someone if we should seat ourselves and they got annoyed and grabbed menus and told us to pick a table. After sitting down we waited awhile until our waitress came to greet us. The waitress was ok, but seemed very disinterested in what she was doing and I didn't see her smile more than once the entire time. The food was the real tragedy here though. The Lumberyard EPIC burger was my selection and I think a part of me died while eating there today. R.I.P. Jer's good sense. The burger was overcooked and flavorless. Even the "Specialty Sauce" was flavorless. A coworker once told me "Who cares about the flavor as long as it fills the hole!" This certainly fit that category. The hole was full but my satisfaction was below empty. Like when your gas tank is so low the needle actually sits below the E. I couldn't get out of that place fast enough. I ended up paying significantly more than I had hoped for and the meal wasn't even memorable. Actually, scratch that....it was memorable but in a bad way. Like in the "Remember that restaurant we ate in at Cannon Beach when we went to see Haystack rock? Man that place was so terrible!" or "Man, this place is bad, but not Lumberyard Rotisserie & Grill bad!" I think they should drop the Rotisserie & Grill from their name because the food tasted more like it came from a lumberyard than a rotisserie and grill. I give the Lumberyard 2 Doubledays. It would be a 1 but at least it filled the hole!

We ate here once a few years ago, and I thought it was decent. We decided to give it another try this week, and we went back a second time. The Lumberyard has really stepped up their game. First of all, my daughter requires gluten-free foods, and Lumberyard offers a variety of GF options, including a fryer that never has gluten; so fish & chips, French fries, chicken tenders, are all GF. My girl chose the pizza on this visit and said it was the best GF pizza crust she's ever had. I had the 107th No Pity burger (BIG points for a pro-Timbers menu item at the Coast). They make a really nice burger. My son had a regular pizza and thought it was great. We had very good service throughout both visits. I like the big-timber beams and the overall décor of the place. Prices are high, but not at all uncommon for Cannon Beach; you're going to pay a bit more for a resort town.

We really enjoyed this place it was perfect for what we were looking for. We sat outdoors for a quieter atmosphere as I am sensitive to noise level. Our waiter was gracious and courteous. He seemed busy but did a great job regardless. As it got cold out the manager brought out blankets and they set out their space heater lamps. While the manager was out there she took our dessert order made conversation and even bussed tables, she was great! My food was good, it wasn't as hot as I would have liked it but very good nonetheless. And the marshmallow dessert was fantastic!!! Loves this place :)

There isn't that many dog-friendly restaurants in Cannon Beach, and out of them I like Lumberyard the best. The outdoor seating is sunny and spacious and the patio is always full of dogs happily dining with their humans. They also always bring your dog water. I've eaten here twice and I've enjoyed my experience both times. The service has always been really friendly and efficient, even if the restaurant is busy. The prices can definitely be expensive when it comes to seafood or entree options, but they are reasonable for salads, burgers and sandwiches. I've enjoyed everything I've ordered from here. The clam chowder is very good, especially paired with the skillet cornbread smothered in honey butter. I love the Rockfish Burger, local, panko-breaded rockfish and homemade tartar sauce. Their burgers are generous sizes, especially the Epic Burger, which is gigantic and delicious. Macaroni and cheese, BLT and French dip are other good lunch choices. I'm happy to come back here every time we're in Cannon Beach with our pups!

Lumberyard was ok. Drinks were ok. I got the salmon, and my friend got the rockfish. I was a little disappointed that my $23.99 salmon came with a little dish of watery corn, and some French fries. It just seemed kinda...cafeteria for the price. The salmon tasted good. My friends rockfish was ok, and the Caramelized onions it came with were really tasty. Service was pretty good.

Stopped by here for lunch on a fantastic February weekend. So nice out, that we got to bring the dog and sit out on the patio, in February!!! Dog friendly was #1 reason, #2 was to try the clam chowder, as I'm always on the lookout for good. Had a cup for lunch. The description in the menu was it was made with sweet delicious clams. Yup, they are, I had 1 in the cup and 1 piece of bacon. Ok, I'm sure that there were more clam bits in there, just one decent sized delicious one in my cup, probably just the luck of the scoop. As for flavor and texture, this chowder was up there in quality. Definitely one of the better ones I've found in the area. I also had the Epic Burger. The burger was cooked to perfection with a nice brown crust and pretty juicy interior. Excellent bun and a really tasty sauce. The only thing I'd change about it would be to make it just a bit flatter to fill the bun to the edges (also you wouldn't have to open your mouth so wide to bite it). The other item we got this time was the mac and cheese. This was ok. It seemed just a touch bland is I guess the best way to describe it. For an extra $5, we could have gotten bacon and/or blue cheese on it. Maybe, but that's just a bit much. The interior of the place is neat. Rustic lodge type of look, tall ceilings and large log beams. Overall, we liked the place and would probably come back. Prices seemed a bit on the high side, but it is a tourist town and we did get a quality meal.

Perfect way to end a chilly day at the coast. Skillet cornbread with honey was delicious and comforting- texture was perfect and loved the crusty edge from being baked in cast iron. And, though it's not something I usually go for in a restaurant I realized they're also a rotisserie and went for the chicken pot pie. Beautifully prepared comfort food! Generous portion, flaky puff pastry on top, flavorful chicken, plenty of veggies inside and an amazing sauce. Can't say enough how good it was! Only drawback is that it was a bit on the salty side, though I was dehydrated at the time and it felt good in my body. Lunch mates had burgers and the kiddo went for fish and chips. Didn't try but they all raved about their meals!

Came here to watch game 6 NBA finals. They accommodated us by turning channels to the game and turning up the volume. Warriors won. Cocktails were soooo very good!!! Service was great. The bartender bartended and did food orders on the floor.

One of the best spots in town to watch a game. Probably the largest restaurant and bar in town with multiple screens. Another plus is that they have a broad menu, so when we are dining with a multi-generational group who have different food preferences, allergies, etc. everyone can find something they like. American basics (clam chowder, pizza, burgers, fish and chips. steak, seafood) served with large portions and slightly elevated prices. Happy hour in the bar from 3:00 - 6:00p. Not one of my favorites in town, but it definitely serves a purpose.

Best place we visited in Cannon Beach! Super cute and modern place! Huge variety of food on the menu--I had the hardest time choosing. Got the chili and French dip--really great! My husband had the clam chowder and really enjoyed that! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! We loved that you could change most of your items to be gluten free for the family members who have a gluten allergy! 5 stars all the way!

Let's start with the pricing... Expensive. The quality of the entrees was good to excellent depending on what you order. The baby back ribs were fall off the bone tender but the sauce was nothing special and not enough of it. The crab mac n cheese was so-so though my kids liked the big chunks of real crab meat. I had the prawn fettuccine alfredo and it was good. The fries were excellent and if we hadn't been so stuffed we might have ordered more. So for a high price, you get a good meal. It's back to Dooger's next time.

  • S C.

Terrible food. Prime Rib was tough and flavorless; probably a cheap cut of meat that was microwaved. Fish and chips were dry and off-tasting. Chicken pot pie turned out to be mystery meat pot pie. The smores skillet desert had no chocolate, just graham cracker and marshmallow. The bathroom was filthy and there was no paper. Any amount is too much for what they serve. But the place is pricey. Drive to Seaside if nothing else is available in Cannon Beach, but don't bother with this garbage.

It is not horrible, it is just Uninspired, forgettable, unoriginal, completely average yet overpriced. They are dog friendly, the restaurant is clean, there is a good selection.

We were visiting Portland Oregon, and decided to check out the coast. After visiting Hug Point and a few beaches, we headed into town for a late lunch. For some reason (February? Time of day?) most of our restaurant choices were closed, so we sort of ended up here by default. That said, we were looking for seafood, and luckily they did have some nice choices. I got clam chowder, and my wife got Fish Tacos (which she had said in the past she would never try, the whole concept seemed weird to her). We did like both meals - we split the two, and the choice of local beers was also very nice. I still probably wouldn't pick a "pub and beer" place for lunch normally, but I was pleasantly surprised by the meal.

This is the 2nd time I've been here. I was already hesitant to come here the second time but this is one of the few places in Cannon Beach that closes at 10pm instead of 9pm. I do wish places stay opened a bit later. We originally wanted to go next door to the Tiki Hut but we ended up having dinner at 8pm and Tiki closes at 9pm and we didn't feel like getting rushed so we opted for Lumberyard. We were greeted and seated quickly by Carlos. He also ended up being our server. Our table ordered 2 of the Meat Lovers pizza and we all split salads. The portions were a good size. The pizza's are about 10-inches. I took a bite into one and it wasn't anything special. The Tabasco I put on it helped a bit but it was just bland. I think my wedge salad was much better than the pizza. I had 2 slices and called it quits. Maybe that's where I went wrong. It was good to know also that I wasn't the only one at my table that thought the pizza was bland and boring. While the group got dessert I decided I'd watch. I'm not a sweets person anyway. Everyone seemed to enjoy their desserts. Would I come back? Probably but I'd definitely order something else. The reason for the 3rd star is because of our server Carlos. He was very helpful and just had a great attitude. If you do end up here ask for Carlos.

Went here with a party of 6 after hiking saddle mountain and we were ready for a feast. I ordered the sneaker wave cocktail to start. It was good, but not great. At least it wasn't overly sweet. We were a little surprised at the prices based on other restaurants we had been to in the area. I got the halibut fish and chips for $23. Have gotten it for about $15-20 at other places nearby so I assumed it would be great. When it came I was surprised that the fish was just 4 small nugget sized pieces. The halibut was really tender but a little greasy. I couldn't tell you really what everyone got at our table because no one raved (or even talked) about anything they got. Everything was pretty nondescript. Would maybe go back to try a burger or for a beer but am not dying to go back. Service was friendly and attentive but there were only a few tables full while we were there.

  • Mike E.

My wife and I always go there when in Cannon Beach. It is one of the few places where we can get chocolate soufflé for dessert. The atmosphere is good. Sometimes there are kids who make it loud in there but there is plenty of room if that happens you can go outside or another table. The clam chowder is home made and good. Salads are nice and fresh too. I don't see any major negatives. We always enjoy it.

Brought in the kiddo. We had wings, beers and fish & chips. The wings were huge, the beers cheap and super tasty! Best meal we had in Cannon by far!

The place we intended to have dinner had an hour long wait, so we went to Lumberyard. Service was fine but the ambiance was that of a Chuck e Cheese w/o the games. 2 glasses of wine, 2 dry burgers and onion rings came to $56.

  • Amber M.

The food was amazing (I had the Pepsi BBQ pulled pork sandwich and my husband had the chili burger). We had a party of 9, and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. I will recommend this place for sure!

The main reason we went here was the dog friendly location. This place really goes over the top with service. They didn't hesitate to seat is outside, even with the overcast weather. They wiped down our seats and table- placed an umbrella on the table just incase- brought us lap blankets and bones & bowls of water for the dogs right away. The service was great. They were all friendly and attentive. The food was good. We visited a couple times during our stay in Cannon Beach and We tried the fish and chips, clam chowder, rack of ribs, corn bread, pizza and hot wings. It was all good. Loved that they had Longboard Kona beer on tap. We even ordered sides of eggs and bacon for the pups and they had no problem whipping that up for them as well. Great place for family and dogs!

My friends had their rehearsal dinner in their "party" room and it was a lot of fun! The service was excellent and the food was amazing! I had their pot pie and I will be dreaming about it for weeks! Very good and very filling. Their deserts were wonderful and I highly recommend! The party room fit about 30 of us and we had our own waitress so we never felt like a hassle! Will definitely be going back the next time we're in Cannon Beach!

  • Anna G.

After being told the wait would be twenty minutes at most, our fairly large group of people was not seated for about an hour. The rotating cast of hosts only attended to us when we threatened to go to another restaurant. The food itself was fine, but very overpriced for the portions and quality. A decent bacon cheeseburger will set you back about $17. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone with a large group of people.

Came into Cannon Beach on vacation, stopped into Lumberyard and had some delicious baby back ribs with fries! Also the s'mores skillet is pretty tasty for dessert! Girlfriend chose shrimp scampi expecting noodles with the shrimp but it came just shrimp which was a bit odd. Overall satisfying meal though, we'd come back!

    (4)
  • Melissa D.

Their Mac and cheese was one of the best I've ever had! I will be back for that! I also had the margarita beach bucket, which was amazing! The only reason they are getting 4 stars is because no one was there to greet us at the entrance.

Fair. The staff was friendly and the food was decent. Nothing too notable here, though it was nice to have the option of sitting outside. Definitely a good family friendly, all-American place.

  • Mylee K.

Disappointing. Was recommended by our travel guide, but we hope they remove the reference. My husband's pot pie had two ingredients in it and both were mush. Most gruesomely, my scampi smelled and tasted like a moldy sponge, and was lukewarm. My baked potato was good, at least. And the service was friendly. It's a small town, but very touristy so I'm sure there are better lunch and dinner options.

The thanksgiving buffet was fabulous!! The prawn pot pie was the best and the ham was very lean, just how I like it. The tarts were amazing, I especially liked the pecan pie/praline tart, overall everything was excellent

Great food great location and great service ! You could easily imagine a place like this getting complacent being one of a few places to eat in Cannon Beach. But not so ! The food was awesome (I had the dungeness crab sandwich and my daughter had the Mac and cheese and its the first night she's finished the plate). The service was brilliant - friendly and helpful.

This restaurant couldn't have been more accomodating. We were a group of 13 girls wanting to sit outside. The staff was quick to set up the outdoor heaters and even handed us all blankets. Staff was on top of the service. Everyone's food came out nice and hot and at the same time. I had a fish dish (rock fish maybe) and although it was tasty the topping on the fish was a little too rich for me. I hope to someday return to Cannon Beach and when I do I would try this restaurant again.

This place may have been the highlight of my recent trip to Oregon. They've literally thought of everything, down to blankets for those who want to eat outdoors on a slightly chilly night. As someone with Celiac, I so appreciated that they don't fry anything with gluten in their fryer -- they don't have a "dedicated fryer"... they're only fryer is gluten-free! The only thing with gluten in the place is their BBQ sauce, which our server, Leonardo, was very detailed in explaining -- so polite and concerned that I got the right food. I was able to have hot wings, and even fish and chips -- something that NEVER happens anywhere else. The fish and chips is done with halibut, and was absolutely delicious. My husband had the rockfish, and raved about it. He wanted to personally thank whoever thought of combining caramelized onions with fish. Highly recommend.

Party of ten. Requested to sit outside and there was plenty of space, just a matter of moving some tables and chairs around. We were told it would take 30 minutes and I asked why it would take so long when there were very few people outside. (Inside was also slow.) Several employees went outside to begin the process of seating us but the hostess maintained that it would take 30 minutes and then told my brother maybe even longer. Another person came in to let the hostess know that the tables were ready for us but she gave me a snide smile and said it was still going to take that long so we left. We ended up at Bills. Our tab was $200. I guess Lumberyard doesn't need our business. Weird.

Wow! $24 for fish & chips @ lunch. Barely a 1 person serving of fish (4 2" pieces) & undercooked fries. Fish was good which is why I gave 3 stars but wouldn't come back! (Table next to us sent food back)

Every time I visit Cannon Beach, the Lumberyard is an absolute must. The overall decor of the place is very rustic and simple. I love the wood fire stove, the log cabin feel & the gorgeous blooming flowers outside. I haven't had the chance to sit outside yet but I definitely would, weather permitting! The service is nothing to complain about, it's what I would expect from a casual, family orientated restaurant. The cheeseburger was adequate but not anything special. I did love the mac & cheese for it had a nice balance of richness from the cheese and crunch from the bread crumbs. I especially love the fact that they use local ingredients like Tillamook Cheese! The reason I rated The Lumberyard so generously can be summarized in two words: SMORES SKILLET. Hands down one of the best desserts I've ever had. It's a gooey, chocolatey mess & I could eat it every day of the week. Although the smores skillet has a special place in my heart, I am probably going to try another restaurant next time I visit in hopes for a more memorable main course.

Excellent food and service. Blankets were available for outdoor dining and dog biscuits and water were offered to my dogs. Very friendly place. Kids meals were great for younger kids, a bit small for older kids. Otherwise, a wonderful place. Loved it.

There were three of us that came in from the storm (not just what I, as a tourist (if I can be called that - the Oregon Coast is a home away from home), would consider a storm - a real storm). We were wet, cold and hungry. We decided on Lumberyard as it seemed like it might have more appropriate food for that type of day. It does, but it wasn't very good. Actually, the sides were pretty good. I was told the wedge salad was good, though it wasn't quite what I'd call a "wedge," more like a half a head of iceberg lettuce with some dressing on top. The fries were also good. The main courses (burgers and pulled pork sandwich) were all incredibly bland. Like "do you have mayonnaise or salt or . . . anything at all that could help save this?" bland. They seem to stay true to the current trend in dining - great looking food with no taste. To top it all off, the service was stuffy, which isn't completely unexpected out of Cannon Beach. And, the prices were also Cannon Beach prices. I would have been fine with the pricing if the food had followed along.

Suzie Q's Fun Fact: The origin of the word "barbecue" is contested. Many think that "barbecue" came from "barbacoa" (which is an old West Indian practice of slow-cooking a whole animal over a flame). Others believe that "barbecue" came from the French phrase "barbe à queue," e.g. "beard to tail." =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Lacking many other options in cozy Cannon Beach, my family and I ended up at the Lumberyard when other, better-reviewed restaurants either had too long a wait, or couldn't accommodate the 7-month-old in our party. It was my mom's birthday, but unfortunately, the meal ended up being no cause for celebration. When we walked in on a busy Saturday night in January and went to put our names in, there was a long line of patrons already ahead of us. So we naturally assumed that all tables were full. Ha! In fact, 1/3 of the restaurant's four-tops (the kind of table we were waiting for) were empty. A waitress we queried explained that they simply didn't have enough wait staff or bussers to service all the tables, so couldn't seat anyone in that section. So we waited. And waited. In the interim, they must have called about ten parties of two (most of whom had already left and gone elsewhere - perhaps we should have taken their lead). Finally, our names were called and we were ushered to our table. Our server, Mari, was the sweetest woman.... but there was a painful language barrier. To make matters worse, she was clearly an inexperienced server, as she didn't know the answers to even the simplest and most obvious questions that a restaurant patron would ask ("What kind of beers are on tap?"). By the time we finally placed our drink orders and the drinks were delivered - which took longer than it should have - it was another 20-30 minute wait for our $8.99 "Irish Nachos." Once they finally arrived, we descended upon the nachos like locusts.... but out of hunger and desperation only. The name sounds intriguing, doesn't it? Don't be fooled. This was just a small pile of potato chips, topped with a tiny bit of cheese, too many jalapenos, and not enough black beans. Even after dumping on the two tiny cups of sour cream and one container of "pico de gallo," it was still not an impressive or satisfying dish. We waited another 30 minutes for our entrees to finally arrive. When they did, pretty much all of us were disappointed. I had gotten the $13.99 Rockfish Burger, which was a bland piece of breaded fish sandwiched between two overly-buttered buns, accompanied by an unwieldy hunk of lettuce that someone had clearly salvaged from the core of an Iceberg head, and some tartar sauce. Meanwhile, I had asked to substitute the fries or cole slaw that came with the burger with the tantalizing-sounding roasted corn. To my surprise, instead of a nice ear of corn on the cob, the sandwich arrived with a tiny, shallow dish of corn kernels. As the kernels were swimming in butter, they tasted good, but I was not thrilled when I saw the indefensible $1 surcharge on the bill at the end of the night (which server Mari had not mentioned). I also tried my mom's "1/2 BBQ Baby Back Ribs" plate (overpriced at $20.99), and like her, was disappointed with how tough and gritty the meat was. I mean, this place SPECIALIZES in barbecue, and they can't even get a dish like that right. We ended up ordering a few desserts only because we wanted to "festify" the evening a bit more. I mentioned to Mari that it was my mom's birthday, but - big surprise - the desserts arrived without any fanfare, candle, or decoration befitting the occasion (although one of them was comped on the bill). The desserts were very simple, homey dishes: Banana bread pudding, berry cobbler, and chocolate "fallen" souffle. These were served in the simplest, least artful manner possible - in three identical white ceramic crocks - but at least they tasted good. Still, after the long wait and overpriced, mediocre food, we left the restaurant feeling somewhat exhausted and used up. I wish now that we'd taken Mom to some other restaurant - practically ANY other - even if the wait had been longer.

Food has nothing to do with this review my wife and i missed the sunset from our beach front hotel because the waitress took forever!!!! It took almost 2 hours for dinner

Phenomenal service and excellent food! We brought our chihuahua and were seated outside on the patio. Our server brougwhg our dog a water bowl and a treat as she took our order! It was great to feel like our four-legged friend was welcome, not just tolerated at a restaurant. We had the bbq chicken pizza and the cobbler. Both delicious! It's a little pricy, but the service made it worth it. Can't wait to go back!

Was a little disappointed when first arriving because I was looking forward to bringing my dog with me to dine out on the patio, but the waitress said they didn't have any tables set up out there because it was winter, so I was forced to leave my pooch in the car :( Food was great quality, but a little over priced. $25 for fish and chips with 4 tiny pieces of fish. The fish was yummy though-extremely fresh and had the perfect crunch, fries were also tasty. Definitely get the clam chowder it was amazing as an appetizer!

I had the fish and chips. The wife had the lumberyard burger and a mixed drink. This came out to about 46 dollars. It was not worth the price. The food also came out in baskets with paper lining instead of a plate. I would have at least expected a plate for that price.

Took the family for dinner and it was mixed at best. We started with cornbread and chowder which met expectations. My daughter ordered the crab salad which was decent and my wife had the wedge salad with Dungeness crab and it was also decent. My son had a burger which is hard to mess up. However, it went downhill from there. I ordered the steak medium rare, and it came out well done. It was also a bad cut of meat. I told the waitress and she was nice enough to have the cook make another one, but it didn't matter. When you're working with bad cuts of meat to begin with, there isn't much even the best chef in the world can do to make it palatable. The second try was cold inside and still tough to cut. They also ran out of baked potatoes for 45 minutes so I had to have fries with the steak. It didn't matter though, the steak was such a disappointment that I stopped caring.

One of the better dinner places in Cannon Beach. A couple of notches above the longstanding, mediocre "seafood" joints along Hemlock. It has a great beer selection, outdoor seating that makes waiting with kids more tolerable than it otherwise would be, and pretty darn good food. The menu's a little on the heavy side, but everything seemed fresh and the service was good too. Nice, clean decor as well.

Chose this place because it was the first place we came to on our walk into town from our hotel! Glad we stopped!! Great surroundings, wonderful staff and good food. I had the BLT with the house made applesauce. The applesauce was heavenly. The BLT was little but good. Hubby had mac and cheese and side salad. Both good. I love the artwork and old historical pictures on the walls too. Outside seating looked nice too. We didn't have cocktails but will be back to try a margarita and one of the a Oregon beers on tap!

On our first visit to Cannon Beach, a friend recommended going to Lumberyard for dinner. It also happened to be Valentines. Without a reservation, we walked in around 8:00 pm. The restaurant was packed and there was a fifteen minute wait. When we got sat, it took a good 10 minutes for the server to greet us. We ordered our drinks and the special (prime rib). The restaurant was busy, but started to wind down for the night. Well, it took another 15 minutes for the server to come back and inform us that they are out of the prime rib and should order something else. The menu was a bit of a disappointment because we expected more. They only offered a few appetizers, salads, pizza, burgers, fish n chips, sirloin steak and fettuccini Alfredo. Oh, there was only one chicken option on the menu - appetizer wings. We settled for the shrimp scampi and baby back ribs. The shrimps were overcooked (tough, dry and rubbery) and the ribs were just okay. We didn't realize the restaurant closed at 9:00 pm so we hurried to finish our meal (staff were wiping down tables, putting away condiments and engaging in loud conversations while going about their closing duties). We thought it was odd for the restaurant to close at 9:00 pm on a saturday. Oh well, maybe it doesn't get busy at a beach town, but on Valentines? Anyway, we loved the interiors - lots of wood, center bar, huge fireplace, but there were a lot of "misses" that night. We would only recommend the Lumberyard to friends with kids and those looking for pizzas and burgers!

AVOID AVOID AVOID! how does this OVERPRICED S***HOLE get an over-2 rating. We ordered the chilled wedge with crab meat and a bowl of clam chowder. both of which were way below standard. The price was just ridiculous. And on top of that they would even serve fresh black pepper. SERIOUSLY??!!

Poor service and worse food! To start, we were seated in their Wine bottle room, which was awesome. I thought, excellent I'll try some new wines....nope! The wine is not theirs to sell. Say what? Then why sit your customers in the room, I'm sure I am not the only person who's found this confusing. The food, yuck! I ordered their Rockfish Burger. Greasy greasy greasy. So much so that the "fish" fell apart. It tasted horrible, as in couldn't eat it horrible. When asked about the food, I told our waiter how gross it was. He politely removed it from our table but did nothing to offer me something else in its place, offer to have a manager come over etc. Then there was the minor issue of forgetting to make my son his meal, and then not so much as an apology for their mistake. Thankfully they removed both my meal and my sons from the bill. But I'd rather have had the chance to get hot, fresh food that wasn't so greasy you couldn't eat it. Save your money folks.

Food was amazing! Staff was very friendly and fast! I would definitely recommend. They are also dog friendly if you eat outside, which is really nice. Only downside, the park is a little tricky, not a lot of spots, but if you park in town it's not a bad walk at all.

Had high hopes as the smells were fantastic. On a Saturday night 15 minute wait which was not bad. Wait staff was prompt, friendly, and moved quickly. Ordered clam chowder which was pretty stellar, certainly beats mo's. Skillet corn bread was good, honey butter once softened made the dish. Bacon Mac and cheese was cold. And without the saltiness of the bacon was way under seasoned. Fish and chips, fish was very good light and flakey. All be it slightly overpriced for portion size at 23.99. Low point was the fries, really limp and oily. Over all not likely to recommend, in the future we will explore other options. It was a shame as over all look of restaurant is great and could be very promising but has several opportunities for improvement.

Two friends and I made a daytrip to Cannon Beach from Portland, OR, as we often do, on 4/20/15. Gorgeous day at the beach! When we got famished, we walked over to this place and sat on their lovely patio. Our waitress, Kate, was prompt and professional. I ordered a local ale chilled to perfection. For lunch, I ordered - with some trepidation - the daily special, which was breaded and deep-fried calamari, with french fries and cole slaw. The trepidation part comes in because we all know how easy it is to get calamari "wrong." One friend had a bowl of chili, and the other a bowl of clam chowder, and we all shared a berry cobbler for dessert. WOW! Every dish and every component, right down to the tartar sauce, was spot on! This is increasingly rare in my experience....usually something needs some serious attention, but not here! Our waitress was fantastic throughout, what a treasure these days! I even went so far as to contact the restaurant directly to share my experience, which I have not done in years. Future visits will allow me to sample the wide range of other menu offerings, and I have no doubt I will love them as well. This place gets it ALL RIGHT! Go there!

Disappointed. I stopped in at this place while on vacation. It was slower and the staff seemed more interested in talking with one another then serving. It took awhile for my food and I had to get refills from the bar. The food was hardly memorable because I was mostly distracted in the lack of service. If anything this is a complaint on service. The cost is to be expected since it is in a tourist town. Perhaps I would have had a better review on the food but the service left a bad taste.

We have enjoyed the Lumberyard nearly every time we have visited Canon Beach since the place opened. The menu is not exhaustive, but the items are dependable. Salads are basic, but substantial and fresh. Pizza is solid. Dinner on the weekend features a beautiful slab of Prime Rib and fresh Halibut that is well seasoned; succulently grilled. A 25 ounce stein of PBR is only $3.50. Servers are welcoming and just the right degree of attentive. Thanks Jenn and Tonya, for a great Friday lunch on the sunny patio, and a memorable Valentine's Day dinner.

Restaurant environment is nice. Food is seriously sub par.....pasta was totally undercooked, tacos were bland, and burger was just ok. DEFINITELY NOT good food for the price. Wayyyy overpriced and food was really disappointing! We won't be back.

If I could give negative stars I would. AVOID!!! Worst food I have had in a long time. So many problems -- pizza was gross. Floppy and greasy, overloaded with cheese. Margarita pizza should be simple and not some giant doughy grease-fest. my child couldn't even eat the kids pizza it was so bad. Our server asked which kind of tequila I would like in my margarita without telling me that it was $10 extra! I just picked the only brand I had heard of (should have realized that it was an upcharge) I could have bought the whole bottle of tequila for that price. A member of our group ordered a burger -- no questions asked about how he wanted the burger cooked. It was delivered medium rare. He wanted well done. Returned the burger to the kitchen and all they did was remove the center of the burger and put it on a new bun. Absolutely horrifying.

Luckily, I was mentally prepared for the under-staffing situation (having read about it on Yelp) before we went in. Otherwise I would have been really irritated! They were packed on the first Saturday night in March - there was a basketball tournament going on in Seaside so there were lots of teams / coaches / families there, plus the general coast crowd. Their little parking lot was full but we found street parking about a block away. We were told there would be a 20-30 minute wait for our party of 3, it ended up being 44 minutes (yes, I timed it. always overestimate this, don't underestimate it!) It was very obvious during this time that they were poorly staffed - the hostess kept running off to bus tables and do who knows what else. Serious credit goes to everyone working there - they were all working hard! The building is beautiful! I'm not sure if it was built for them or was something else before the Lumberyard, but I really liked it, both inside and out. When we were seated, our poor server was definitely struggling. He was trying really hard, but he seemed to be a newer server and he was definitely dealing with too many tables. The menu itself (the physical menu) had a few shortcomings in our opinion. One is that they only serve sandwiches before 4, and none of that noticed that on the menu before my mother-in-law ordered one (tried to, anyway). It was written in a little blurb under the sandwich section on the menu. It looks online like they updated their menu on 3/19 and it now shows sandwiches are only served before 4 in BOLD letters - yay! Great improvement to the menu!! Also, I knew about the daily rotisserie specials (heard about them in advance, saw them on the menu, plus was facing the board where they were posted). But MIL didn't know about them until I mentioned something after we were already eating - so the blurb on the menu to ask the server about them obviously isn't seen by everyone. Maybe the server could ask parties if they want to hear the specials? Finally - to the food! The food was great. We started with the Irish Nachos, I had a burger, Husband had the fish tacos, and MIL had a pizza. She LOVED the sausage on her pizza. I also had the s'mores dessert which was excellent. A really unique and delicious dessert! Because of the food, we will be back! It sounds like the manager is definitely aware of and working on their staffing issues, but I would definitely warn anyone I was going with to expect a wait and slow experience. When/if that's not the case, it will be a pleasant surprise and will certainly improve my rating.

Came in for a late lunch, with kids. The food was fine, but the service from the staff was inconsistent, trending toward poor. The person who seated us was a text book "warm body hire." Our server was better, but not great.

This was our first stop of a romantic weekend at the beach. Although everything in Cannon Beach seems wildly overpriced and underrated, this seems safe enough. We asked to sit outside where we had seen MANY open tables and the waitress said she'd have to go check, but if we couldn't sit outside we could sit inside (uh, duh, it's huge and empty in here). We ordered two wedge salads with crab and a bowl of clam chowder to share. The lettuce was browning, the blue cheese dressing was not very good at all, and the bacon bits were sparse. The crab was fine, but overall the salad was a total disappointment, especially for $16. The clam chowder was edible but nothing special at all. Not much clam, very white, very bland. Both of these dishes should have been offered freshly ground black pepper, which would have improved them. But there were no grinders in sight and the wait staff was not attentive. We would definitely not go back.

We love the lumber yard. This is one of our top 3 spots in cannon beach. A must if you are near by. Please try the cornbread it is out of this world. They do great job on take out as well. Staff has always been wonderful.

Way overpriced! The food was okay and the service was okay. After finding a lot of bones in their fish and chips, the manager on duty told us that she would take half off but then changed her mind after seeing the bones herself and said that she would not charge us for that dish... I guess that's nice? The rest of the food was okay, nothing to brag about and definitely not worth the price.

I have mixed feelings regarding The Lumberyard, as one visit was wonderful and the second was disappointing. Service was wonderful the first time, and frustrating the second time. The same goes for food - my family's meals were of mixed quality - mine, the Rockfish Burger, was bad. Greasy, unseasoned, and not worth the money. My father's ribs were amazing. My wife's burger was overlooked. So, in all, the consistency is disappointing, all across the board. Three stars as our first visit deserved a five and our second visit a two.

We ate at the Lumber Yard twice during our trip to the coast, as we were somewhat limited to places with patios because we were traveling with our pup. The first night I had a burger with a chicken patty. The bun and the toppings on the burger were perfect, but the chicken was overlooked to almost a chicken-jerky (maybe the beef would have been spot-on??). My husband had ribs that night that were really delicious. The second time we returned we split a BBQ chicken pizza and side salads. The salads were just ok, but I liked the pizza. Waitstaff was attentive, patio was very nice (and dog friendly!), waiting area is enjoyable outside, but I'd say overall the food is just "good", not great or amazing. I'd go back again if I had my dog with me and was limited to patios.

SPENDY! My family recently vacationed and spent the day in Cannon Beach, OR. We were looking for a family restaurant for a burger; nothing crazy. We saw the "$$" and figured this would be a good place to rest our feet and fill our stomach. Well, the only thing we did was relieve my wallet! The burgers were very overpriced; starting at $12.00-. They weren't large or anything special. I purchased my daughter mac n cheese from the kids menu and it was tasteless. Very average at best. There are a number of good restaurants in Cannon Beach that are better and won't break the bank. When in Cannon Beach, take a pass on the Lumberyard.

Absolutely irritated with all these whiney Yelpers bitching about such stupid shit. Considering your options at Cannon Beach, this is by far one of the better places to eat. Would I give it five stars being in Portland....no, but for here in my opinion it's pretty good. It's no more expensive than anywhere else here.....with the exception of the prawn appetizer.....which was really good, just priced a little too high for what you get. So if your on a budget you shouldn't be staying in Cannon Beach and if your a whiney Yelper who likes to complain, then drive your ass to Seaside, I hear there's a Subway there and a Taco Del Mar I believe........Cheers!!!

This is probably one of the better places to eat in Cannon Beach - and that's not saying too much. Overall, were were kind of disappointed with the food in this town: either too expensive or the food was just bland. Lumberyard was hit-and-miss. First time, we had pizza and it was great. Second time we had ribs and it wasn't too good - kinda bland and boring. Prices were high as is everything else in this town. Overall, an okay place just nothing I'll remember.

Nice modern looking restaurant with wood furnishings throughout. When my gf and I with her sister's family came here for lunch we asked to be seated outside since it was a great sunny day. It was nice to know that they also accommodate dogs at the outdoor seating since many people travel with their pets when they come to Cannon Beach. The seating area was filled quickly outside as most parties preferred to sit out in the sun. I had ordered just a wedge salad that day since I wasn't too hungry, but when I got my food I was stunned that it was a little too small compared to the size I usually get when I order it at The Keg. It tasted okay, but again not up to par with my expectations except that the bacon bit size was bigger and crisper. The salad dressing they offered was Thousand Island which is usually my default choice if no other dressings are to my liking. The service was quick as they had quite a few people working right when the place opened. I wouldn't mind giving this place another try and not just ordering a salad, but a complete meal to give a more thorough review.

Seven of us had an amazing lunch at the lumberyard. Having celiac I'm normally the one that picks the places to eat. We are visiting from Southern California for the thanksgiving week. I read a few online gluten free reviews about the lumberyard. I thought I would give it a try. The waitstaff were great and knowledgeable about celiac. They told me the owners son has celiac. I had the 7oz burger with bacon cheese and avocado. I had no bun but they have GF buns. However, I have egg allergies as well. They told me they don't fry anything with gluten. So I had the French fries which were really good. The others in my party had clam chowder, crab meat salads, chili, corn bread. They all loved their food as well. The food and service were great I highly recommend trying the lumberyard!!!!!

I have never experienced such bad service before! There were barely any customers in the place but we still had to walk to the bar area to get a menu beacuse no one was at the front to greet us. We sat near the fireplace and continued to wait for our server for 10 minutes. Not one person came to help us, although 3 different employees walked past us atleast 10 times. We went back to the bar to see if someone would take our order and no one was there. One employee saw us standing there waiting but just kept walking by. We left after that and will never go back again. When I told the supervisor folding the silverware that this was the worst experience ever she apologized but did not try to offer an incentive to have us stay and give them another chance. We spend alot of time and money in CB and this place will never again be on the list.

Update: Manager reached out and made a sincere apology. I have worked in the industry and know that a good measure of a restaurant is how they deal with challenges and they have made me a fan again. Disappointing experience last Saturday night. ~2.5 hours spent in this establishment and the bulk of it was waiting for our food. We had about a ten minute wait for our table and our appetizers came out fast. We then literally waited 90 minutes for our main dishes. A few apologies from our servers but an update that they were running behind would have been nice as we had a movie to get to. Plenty of tables around us complained and appeared to get their food a little faster and possibly some drinks comped. Maybe we should have done that but whatever.. On to the food.... When it finally did arrive it was decent bar food. I sampled burgers, steak, and the rock fish dish and all were solid. They did have a deal for 26$ (steak, salad, and individual appetizer) that I would consider a great value for Cannon Beach. The dessert menu looked great but we had no time to spare and barely made it to our movie.

Just ate here, we came cause Castaways had too long of a wait. The food was good. My husband had the burger and I had the BBQ chicken salad, both were tasty but nothing to write home about. Here's the thing. You feel like you're eating at Applebee's but you're paying fine dining prices. I couldn't believe the prices! $27 for shrimp scampi and $29 for a loaded burger. Service was pretty good. Although our waiter spent a lot of time shamelessly flirting with the group of college girls at the next table. There was a nice lady who was also servicing tables, she must've been the manager or owner. Beer was cheap at $5 a glass. We would come back but they should really not charge so outrageously. Definitely taking advantage of the beach location.

Overpriced. Stopped in for lunch on a day trip from Portland to Cannon Beach. Love the wood decor and Pat Tillman picture on the wall! Split lunch with my travel buddy, we ordered the $20 plate of halibut fish and chips and were so disappointed to receive 4 tater-tot sized pieces of halibut. The food was tasty and well prepared, but our $20 plate hardly had anything on it.

The service was terrible. Hostess didn't seem to care we were there or tell us how long it would be. We waited 20 minutes before we were seated in a nearly empty restaurant. The server dropped us water without saying a word and waited 10 minutes to come back for our order. A burger cost $12 and it's an extra $2 just for a slice of cheese. Hope you aren't thirsty because your water won't be refilled. This is one of the only times I have skimped on the tip but this guy really didn't deserve it. Food was mediocre at best.

Stopped in on our way home from spending all day at the beach. It's real hard to find parking but we got lucky. This was a good sign! The place is very cool and the seating booth was huge and comfy. Our server was great as well as the food. My picky 3 yr old inhaled the "greasy" pizza. Because that's how good pizza is! Trust me, he's a pizza snob just like me! Seafood was amazing!!! All five of us loved it! A + :-)

Me and my friend got the rockfish and it was well..poor and we both love a good rockfish. My bun tasted like it had been sitting for a week too. When eating seafood on the coast I just hope for better than this. Hopefully it was just a bad night.

Because of our stay at "Surfsand Resort" we went here because my three kids get to eat for free. Large portions for the kids menu. My son devoured his hamburger, and the girls loved the mac and cheese(kraft type). Both my Wife and I had burgers. They were about $12 each. The service is a little slow, but it was a weeknight, and I can't complain too much because of the value of the kids eating for free. I can see spending more than $80 here for a family of 5 without the discount. Easily.

This restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is a good place to go with friends. However, the food doesn't make me want to come back. Three of the seven people at my table were disappointed in there meals. The chowder I ate was overpowered with dill. My partner's rockfish burger had a stale bun, fell apart as she ate it, and the rockfish was poorly made. My friend's rockfish entree was overpowered with caramelized onions making it way too sweet of a dish, and the rockfish didn't have a fresh flavor. My other friends got burgers and were pleased with them. So maybe this place would be a good place to grab a burger.

We did not enjoy our dinner here. Portions were overwhelmingly large and not very tasty. My half rack of ribs were about 2lbs of meat and quite fatty. We also had a pizza which was more cheese than anything else. A pet peeve: our starter dishes were still on the table when our mains arrived, leading to the annoying plate shuffle. Finally our server was curt and grumpy; no refills offered, a snide comment about the wine & I had to ask a busboy for cutlery for my wife as our server dropped the food and left. Would not recommend nor return.

Yum Yum Yum! We picked this restaurant simply because it "looked and sounded" good. Great service! And even the kids loved their meals. Would definitely go back!

My family stumbled upon this restaurant because it was one of the few places that had parking. We were all just hungry and did not come in with expectations. The place was quite busy, but our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered 2 of their classic burgers, bbq chicken pizza, and a margherita pizza. Although the prices were a bit high, they were all really good. I enjoyed the ground beef in the burger; cooked perfectly. However I found the buns a bit buttery. The bbq pizza was okay. If you like bbq sauce on the sweeter side, then you may like this. Ultimately, my family and I really loved the margherita pizza here. The cheese was good and the chunks of garlic were yummy. You can really taste and smell the garlic in this, which we all love. I usually don't like to eat margherita pizza because it is mostly sour, but I found this pizza to be in good balance. I may have liked it more because they were pretty generous with the cheese. The restaurant uses the Tillamook cheese, which is produced in the area. That might be the reason why we loved the cheese in these pizzas!

The onion rings are awesome! Hand breaded and not a slimy onion thing on the inside like so many other places. Staff was very attentive to our party of 7 - never had to wait for refills on drinks. The chili on the chili burger was pretty bland, unfortunately. I'll just try another entree next time!

Tried this for the first time and was impressed. The staff was friendly and prompt. The Mac n cheese is so creamy and delicious . The kids loved the juicy hamburgers and their salads are fresh and crisp . The Bloody Mary was pretty good too.

Despite the wait for a table on a Saturday night, the food was well worth the wait. The service was very good and attentive. It's very apparent that the GM and her staff bring a superior level of service even during a heavy rush. Ordered: Chili Cheese Fries: Beer battered fries covered in homemade chili, cheese and onions. Most execlant dish. The fries stayed crispy to the last greasy, finger slurping bite. Cornbread Skillet: Highly recommended for all you carb-o crazies out there. Warm and fluffy with a crispy outer crust, soaked with honey butter that melts in your mouth. Clam Chowder: Creamy, thick and peppery. Worth ordering again, but quite simply overshadowed by the cornbread....so really guys....just buy the cornbread. Fish and Chips: Good, but also.... overshadowed by the cornbread. Join our cornbread army. Interesting Side note: Our waiter had hiccups.

This is our 2nd time dining here and it didn't disappoint :) Our waiter was a very nice ginger "prince Harry" look a like. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the bacon in his salad, and even let each of us try a small piece. I had the margarita pizza and it was da bomb. This place is def our go to for Cannon Beach day trips!

Delicious!! I loved the fish and chips! It was the first time I've been able to eat them since I've been gluten free. We loved our food and experience so much we went back for lunch the next day. Kid friendly, great service, and yummy choices! Many, many gluten free choices. Will be going back frequently!

Great spot in Cannon Beach. The cheese burger was one of the best I have ever had and the pickled jalapeños were the perfect touch. The clam chowder and halibut are also really good. Unfortunately, the ribs aren't so good. Staff was very courteous and attentive.

Cannon Beach is a popular place and we were in town on a sunny weekend. We had one dog with us, so we had to wait for outdoor seating, which seemed to take awhile, but they have an outdoor waiting area and the time flew by. After a bit, we were seated and digging through the menus. I wanted to try one of the beers on tap since I'm not much of a beer drinker, so I walked into the bar and waited for well past five minutes, hoping someone would get back from their break or wherever they left to and get me a sample of the fort george red. After awhile, three people all of a sudden showed up and I got my sample, not bad, but not into it. Got back to my table and everyone was wondering where I was at and they were waiting to order for me. Great. After a few more minutes, we ordered our food. My sister ordered the clam dip and when it showed up, we all kind of laughed. The dip was great and there plenty of it. The pita bread they brought out with it was a joke. Four pieces. Hardly enough to even put a dent into the dip, lol. Seriously, does that make any sense to you? Yeah, me either. We asked for more and she brought another four slices out. Not sure if we got charged for them or not. Our food eventually showed up. I had ordered a BLT sandwich with fries. Got exactly what I ordered, but I guess I wasn't expecting two pieces of bread with bacon, lettuce and tomato. Don't they usually have some sorta meat in there? Maybe not. It wasn't a bad sandwich and the bacon was good, so whatever. Everyone else seemed okay with the food. Oh and the prices were a little more than we're generally used to, but a hopping little place on the oregon coast, guess that's what you have to expect. Service was mostly good. It seemed to go in spurts though. For about 15 minutes our server would stop by every couple of minutes it seemed and then when we were looking for her, she was nowhere to be found. Overall this place was just okay. I know I don't have much to say about why it was just okay, but I guess it's just not my typical place to stop by and have a bite to eat. I doubt I would stop here again in the future.

Came for lunch. The chicken pot pie was definitely worth the wait. The apple sauce that came with the pot pie was as good as any I have ever had. The atmosphere is casual and just right for Cannon Beach. They even have a gluten free menu (if you ask). Definitely I will be back.

Just ate here. Pot pie had bones in it and dough was not done no crackers or bread with it and barely any chicken. Had side salad and it was warm. Others had small portions for what you pay. Leaving hungry. Wish I had trusted reviews prior to coming here. Know we will not be back or recommend.

This was a neat establishment to try out. The food was delicious and the waitress was very cool. There was a small mishap on forgetting the bottom half of one our burger buns. Not only was she apologetic but took and fixed the order and refilled the fries. Very polite, friendly, and humorous. The beer we tried was good.

They had a very good menu. I had the BBQ chicken pizza which was very good. My wife had their veggie burger which she said was excellent. Don't let the prices fool you - they are serving up good portions! Full bar with great drink selections! Customer service wise - top notch! My youngest, 5, likes more than a fair amount of cinnamon in his applesauce. When I asked our server, Tyler, for a side of cinnamon he was all over it! Great job Tyler! My one...complaint/constructive feedback: I really was hoping for a better beer selection of Oregon beers on draft. Maybe even their own Lumberyard beer. Highly recommend when in Cannon Beach!

After reading reviews we stopped in for a light lunch. In the end we wished we had stuck to our idea of 'light lunch'...soup/salad. The nachos we shared were more quantity than quality. Yes...it does say on the menu that they're made w/potato chips not tortilla chips, but aside from that it lacked flavor. The beans used weren't refried nor chili but black beans sprinkled here and there, though lots of cheddar cheese and jalapeños to make up for the lack of zesty nacho flavor. We did have their clam chowder which along with the service were the best part of our lunch.

First things first, real inconsistent service and extremely average food. My chili burger was boring and my wife's salad was run-of-the-mill. However, the meal was almost saved by the spectacular fall-off-the-bone short ribs my youngest daughter ordered. The atmosphere is excellent with it's open beam ceilings and sports viewable on TVs from nearly every seat in the house, but the food and service left us wanting more.

Meh. Greasy food, limited menu, and a little overpriced for what it is. The friendly staff were a plus, though. Great place for kids, though... Just not for food.

My fiancé and I went to the Lumberyard for dinner after a relaxing day at the spa and putting around Cannon Beach. We had read some reviews about bad service but thought we'd give it a try. We had trouble finding it as our gps seemed to think it was 10 miles away when it was maybe 3 mins away. We parked in their private lot and walked in to the rear of the restaurant. You have to walk to the front to be seated. We were asked if a hightop table in the bar was ok and we said yes because there seemed to be a wait for the restaurant side. They really seem to love their pepsi BBQ sauce as it was on several different recipes on the menu. We had the cornbread & wings to start (with the sauce on the side). One small note - the 'wings' were drums. Not a huge deal but I'm a big wing fan so it was something to be noted. I also had the side caesar salad as well as the rotisserie chicken noodle soup. Both were pretty good although there was maybe 2 small pieces of chicken in my soup and I couldn't taste any rotisserie to it at all. Overall - not a "bad" restaurant despite some hiccups here and there but definitely don't expect a extensive menu or fast service.

We have been coming here before it was the Lumberyard, when it was just a local small tavern with lots of colorful characters. Having just returned from our semi-annual trip to CB we again visited the Lumberyard, just overlooked the fact that I haven't reviewed it. We stopped in here twice both times just for appetizers this trip, but pleased all the way around with both our food and service. First time had their wings, which were plump and piping hot upon arrival, we devoured them along with our drinks. The second visit we had happy hour food, nachos which were more than enough for two people (we didn't finish them), and good even for happy hour, DH had the mac n' cheese which he enjoyed. I forgot to get the jalapenos on the side so DH put the jalapenos into his mac for a little kick. We split a wedge salad, which was good, although we prefer ours with chopped tomatoes instead of grape tomatoes, but still yummy. Our bill came to just a bit over $23.00 very reasonable for a happy hour menu. Jackson was our server on the second visit and he was young, enthusiastic and a great server, didn't get the name of the female on first visit but she was great as well. We appreciate the fact that they always have plenty of help and "floaters," that keep the tables cleared if the servers are busy. Although we only had appetizers this time around, all our meals in the past have been good, solid food, have never had any complaints. The Lumberyard is a great staple for CB and we liked the new remodel opening up the bar to more seating.

When it comes to Cannon Beach restaurants, there are a handful of viable options, but none as holistically good as The Lumberyard. Perhaps it's competent management team at Martin Hospitality, the knowledgeable staff or quality ingredients, but The Lumberyard delivers. I started out testing a few new beers from Fort George Brewery in Astoria. I highly recommend the tasty & potent IPA. I also tried a sample of the Blackberry Lemondrop, which is dangerously delicious. Forgoing happy hour, the family joined me for dinner. I had a flavorful burger and the ribs were a huge hit with the family. The servers were attentive, professional and friendly.

The food here was mediocre at best. The service was ok, but the food was really terrible. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Burger and it was absolutely flavorless with the exception of the pesto mayo. The menu offered french fries, coleslaw or apple sauce as options for a side. I decided to choose the apple sauce and that was quite possibly the most flavorful and tasty part of the entire meal. J ordered the pot pie of the day (turkey) and it was more like cream of turkey soup with a piece of dough thrown over the top. Nothing like a traditional pot pie that we both had in mind. There aren't many options in the area, but I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Not only was the food "eh", their prices really aren't worth what you get in return.

We love the Lumberyard, especially Happy Hour! It's a great place to hang out and unwind, and Vicki, Lisa and the gang are always there to make you feel at home. Don't miss the pizza, it's my favorite, and Robert reports the wings are not to be missed! Watch those "Marvin Wings" though - they're only for the truly "tough."

Went to the LY for birthday. Walked in on Saturday around 5 with a party of 7,(3 kids). Been here on multiple occasions because the atmosphere is kid friendly and the food is normally adequate. Unfortunately on this occasion the food: ribs, completely lacked any flavor, kind of blah! Sirloin, asked for it medium to medium well, it was dried out and WELL done, too bad. Got the skillet cornbread, always good, plus. Kids ate some chicken fingers, pretty much what you expect for a kids item. Waiter and staff was nice enough to come out and sing 'happy birthday' and that is pretty much the last time we saw the waiter. All done and waited around for 20 minutes with kids that were done eating about 40 minutes prior to this, always fun! Waited, waited, finally asked a female waitress as she was flying through the dining room if we could get our check. She promptly took care of it and I felt free! We could go, walking by the bar I caught a glimpse of our waiter in the bar area. 'He approached as if we were leaving without paying' said 'done'? I replied that we were and he said 'I'll go get the check' as my family was headed for the door. I told him that we had already paid and with a glazed over look and response he said, ' oh yeah' and then turned back to the bar. Overall for $150+ dining experience, gratuity added for party of 7? Thats new to me, had me wondering, what happened to the lumberyard. Food-mundane, service-marginal, attitude from the staff loitering together watching you eat. We left thinking well, that's that! We've been around to see it open, prosper and like every other restaurant, plateau, and become marginal. Whether its mgmt, dining staff or kitchen staff the LY has plateaued, lucky for me I know how to cook ribs and a mean sirloin. 2 stars for trying, just not hard enough.

Everything I've ever had here has been fantastic! The food is great, and they let our dogs sit with us outside on the patio...not to mention that the service is outstanding. Sometimes there are long waits due to it being very busy, but the food is worth it. All of their desserts are crazy delicious! The portions are great, and the prices are a little expensive but Cannon Beach is kind of a tourist town so I guess its to be expected.

I got the turkey dinner and it was not satisfying. The turkey was dry and asparagus mushy. My dead grandmother could cook better. The service was friendly, but kept our table waiting for quite a while. I tried the raspberry limeade, which was delicious but weak. The pear crisp was full of flavor, but not worth the trip. Comparable to Applebee's.

Our last night in cannon beach we went here for dinner and it was enjoyable. The food was good and service was fine. We were here on a Monday night which in the winter means light crowds. I have no complaints and thought it was a good, quality meal. Good drinks and beer menu.

Wow! We were a bit disappointed with the happy hour value. We love to have dinner there but today decided to just do the happy hour because last year it was great. This year not so much. Our waiter kept telling us he was new and didn't know the menu and my husband ordered the sliders and was surprised to only get 1. :(

If you're staying in Cannon Beach, you have to try this place. It's very popular and crowded. We had a party of 8 and they were able to seat us pretty quick. I ordered the BBQ chicken wings and cornbread in a skillet. Hands down, best corn bread I ever tasted. My friend ordered clams and I got to taste some and it was very good. Both my girls enjoyed their kids fish and chip and kids macaroni and cheese. I really wanted to try their dessert but I just didn't have any room, maybe next time.

We love this restaurant when we are looking for a laid back casual bite to eat & a drink. Their margaritas are made with fresh squeezed citrus and they are delicious. They have TV's in the bar but it is not your typical noisy sports bar. The restaurant is great for groups and families. If you are going to splurge on french fries, this is the place to do it. Love the Rotisserie Chicken, Clam Chowder, and the Halibut sandwich. Good service, good ambience.

Our meal here was very good. Our server was a little bit distracted, although it wasn't busy, and forgot about refilling our drinks once or twice. That said, she took our orders and brought our meals out quickly, and was very friendly. I had the seafood salad, which was surprisingly delicious, especially with the honey-Dijon vinaigrette and artichokes. My only complaint is that, while there was abundant fresh crab, there were only 4 prawns in my salad. :( Everything else was good, though, and we'll definitely come back here the next time we're in Cannon Beach.

We went here based on so many really good reviews. After eating here, I concluded that people that really like this place also love chain restaurants because that's about how good this place was. Perfectly edible but nothing to write home about! Firstly, it's a pretty big place...lots of tables and even though the architecture is nice, it has that big restaurant feel. Our waiter was nice. The salads were about as good as what comes out of a bag...maybe not that good. I had the Caesar. I think they claim to make their own dressing but it really tasted like it came out of a bottle. The lettuce was all cut perfectly....not from a romaine head but out of a bag. The cheese...should have been parmesan might have been but certainly wasn't real parmesan...more like a swiss cheese consistency. The croutons were out of a box. No offer of fresh ground pepper. (Yes, I know it's not a fancy restaurant but we have lots of local pubs that make some pretty killer salads and offer fresh pepper). for an entrée, we both had the rock fish tacos..yes spicy but pretty good. There is enough sweet to offset the spicy...but just enough heat. It's not a lot of food...3 small tacos but they are tasty. We did see lots of hamburgers going out to people...they looked pretty good. Nothing was bad here...just the feeling of "I've experienced better for less money" feeling.

Very average food at above average coastal prices. It's not a bad option if it's late and everything else is closed. Stick to the simple dishes like corn bread. Stay away from the more fancy dishes like $25 steaks, which are guaranteed to disappoint.

IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES--then call ahead and talk to Jeff! He was so awesome! My boyfriend and I were visiting Cannon Beach and did a little internet restaurant hunt. I had a couple questions about the menu and called up and Jeff spent a solid five minutes going through each item with me and telling me what ingredients would be a problem and which could be subbed out or made differently. When we got there, we opted for the bar rather than the dining room (which I am not really sure what the difference is, short of the televisions), and had the sweetest waitress. The General Manager came over to check on us and my boyfriend loved the cornbread skillet so much that she boxed the leftovers up for him and included a little honey butter for the reheating. I was kind of limited on my menu choices because of my allergies and decided on the pizza which was alright, but it isn't a pizza place, so I didn't expect to be wow-ed by it. My boyfriend, however, loved his chicken pot pie and I loved knowing I could eat my food safely. Thanks.

The Lumberyard lives up to its name, offering a variety of rotisserie and grilled selections. We ordered out from the Lumberyard while staying at the Ocrean Lodge (it was hard to leave our oceanfront room to eat out anywhere). My Yard Rotisserie Prime Rib was cooked just right (medium rare) and had a nice spice rub. The mashed potatoes were nothing special (they rarely are anywhere), but the vegetables - carrots and green beans - had just the right seasoning and were cooked perfectly (al dente - still crisp and flavorful). The side salads were very good, too. The other three members of the family skipped the specialty items and had hamburgers, which they also reported were quite good. Although we didn't eat there, the ambience might be described as "clean and rustic" (lots of exposed wood in a very open space), the service for takeout was quite good, the wine selection looked OK (and reasonably priced), and the draft beer selection was excellent.

Great casual atmosphere, big wooden structures, signs, sports and beers. Is it 5 star cuisine? No. But there is a good variety for all tastes and diets, the food is good quality, and everyone should have a good time. It's a bit overpriced for just the food, but for me it was worth it for a nice relaxing evening.

After watching the sunset one winter day and extremely famished, we decided to have dinner at the Lumberyard. The restaurant is nicely decorated with comfortable seating. The staff is friendly, nice, and attentive. We had their cornbread for appetizer and it was delicious. They served it in a cast iron skillet with butter and honey. For our main dish we had the Lumberyard Hamburger with onion rings and root beer. Very filling and yummy. Make sure you come here hungry. I was very pleased with my dinner and have been here 2 more times. I also took my husband's parents here when they visited us from California and they loved it too. They accidentally gave my husband's aunt french fries instead of onion rings and they apologized and brought over a large plate of onion rings. We eventually had to take that to go . An older couple near us were having an anniversary dinner and the chef came to their table to talk with them and gave them complimentary dessert. Make sure to stop by here before leaving Cannon Beach.

We had a great dinner here during our stay in Cannon Beach. The service was quick and the food was served up hot and delicious. I had prime rib that came with really good fluffy mashed potatoes and horseradish sauce. My husband ordered the ribs and said they were fantastic! Great dinner spot.

Vickie and the entire staff should be commended on the most welcoming, pleasant and enjoyable location to eat in Cannon BEach. We went there after trying Cranky Sue's and finding out that with the restaurant half full, and no one else waiting it would still take over an hour to get seated. So the lumberyard was our savior and friend. We were seated right away by an attentive and friendly waitress (Kathleen I think). They had a wide variety of seafood and other tavern fare. We had plank-roasted halibut and salmon, and a seafood salad. The kids had fish&chips. Most of the food was good. The halibut was delicious, the salmon was slightly overcooked, and the salad was decent. The vegetables served with the fish were just right. Overall, a good experience in a town where cuisine is pretty spotty.

We recently (July 28th my bday) had dinner here and were completely disappointed!! First was the service or lack thereof... We saw our waitress twice. I ordered steak mid-well and my boyfriend ordered the pot pie. We also had chili to start which ended up being the only thing I was able to eat. When our main course arrived my mid-well steak was bleeding puddles in my fake mashed potatoes ( I am a cook myself but even the average person could tell they weren't real potatoes) Waited forever for someone to come back and my boyfriend had to go inside to find someone to take it back. While we waited my boyfriend tried his pot pie... Crust only on top, gravy thin as water and enough rosemary to kill a horse! When my refire came back I could hardly cut into it. Needless to say I didn't even choke one bite down before deciding to give up. Still not seeing our waitress since she dropped off our food and ran, we went inside to try to pay our bill. They took the steak off our bill but little consolation after completely ruining my birthday dinner. This was our first trip to cannon beach so we will know better next visit!!

Another blah chain restaurant that offers nothing special at high prices. I had a simple chicken breast sandwich that was very dry and too tough to cut. The decor is routine mall steak house wood that makes the restaurant loud even before the screaming children get started. There is no view and you could be in any suburb in the country here so I recommend moving along.

We ate here last Saturday for lunch and had a very good meal. Ordered a fish burger and regular cheese burger and both exceeded our expectations. The kids menu is good too for my five year old (my two year old wasn't going to eat anything this day)... Good and upbeat service, everything seemed clean, yadda, yadda... We will be back again, no doubt!

We took a day trip to Cannon Beach with our greyhound. We first tried the Wayfarer to see if they were a pet friendly restaurant, they let us know that the Lumberyard allowed pets on their patio. We showed up, tired and hungry, and surprisingly got a great corner spot (in the shade) on the patio (it was a beautiful day). They brought our pup water and a milk bone (and brought us out water right away). The food was excellent, we started with the mac and cheese (creamy and amazing with some bread crumbs sprinkled on top), I got the fish and chips (I love Halibut) and the breading was perfect! The chips (aka fries) were OK. The hubby got the burger (super delicious) and our pup gave his milk bone 4 paws up. Oh! I almost forgot about the bloody mary. It was perfect! I highly recommend it, spicy and strong. YUM. We will be back with our pup.

Went here and got there in time for Happy Hour. The Duck game was on (we wanted to view it but the only TV showing it was in a far corner in the bar). We were one of the only ones in the back, and asked our hostess if she could change it. She asked another gal then came back and said it was already on...and seemed confused. We were too. Then an exhausted looking woman with a remote appeared - hands on her hips, she very rudely said "You want the duck game, right?" As if we had asked a lot. She changed it for us, which we do appreciate, but then proceeded to max out the volume on the TV making it ridiculously loud, as we were sitting nearly underneath the TV. Our waitress took quite a while to get there. It wasn't very crowded. She was helpful and tossed out beer suggestions, but the table behind us must have been friends, as she wanted to stay and chat there while we waited. And waited. We got three things off the Happy Hour menu. Two different types of taco (pork and rock fish). I heard good things about them and they were enjoyed overall. I got the happy hour mac-and-cheese. It was good. We also ordered corn bread. It was so cold that the butter on it wasn't able to melt. And overall, I'd venture to even call it bad compared to what we've had from corn bread mixes in a box. I ate a small piece, but mostly because we ordered small happy hour items and was left a little hungry. We left a decent amount of it. When we got home, our friends, who have had this restaurant on their beach bucket-list for a while, asked if if they should finally go. I said there were other places that I'd highly recommend over it. And it's really just plain okay. Nothing horrible. But no reason I'd go again, or recommend anyone go.

My husband and I stayed in Cannon Beach for 2 nights a few weeks ago. We ate at the Lumberyard 3 times in those 2 days, and every time was awesome! I love all of their menu options! And their berry crumble dessert... OMG. My hubby also did the burger challenge, and wears the free tshirt pretty much every night. Our server was on his very first night, and he blew us away with his knowledge and charisma. I think his name was Bren. We are never disappointed by this place, and look forward to eating here every time we visit Cannon Beach. Yummy!

I loved everything about this place! For starters, on a crowded, sunny Saturday afternoon the 2 of us were able to get a seat on the patio out front. Our server, Taylor, was a doll and gave really great customer service. I was hungry, but saw how large the barbecue chicken salad was, to she got permission to sell me a 1/2 order. That allowed me to order a side of fries. Neither 1/2 salads or sides of fries are on the menu, so I really appreciate her getting permission to serve me that. My friend ordered the mac-and-cheese and had crab added. She also got the wedge salad. I was surprised that her food looked just as good as mine - because my salad was the best I'd had in a really long time. We also ordered cocktails. We drank them slowly, because the food was soo good, so Taylor was worried that they weren't to our liking. They totally were, but no way was I slowing down on my salad to sip beer. The beer would just have to wait. Inside was very nice as well, but no one sits indoors on sunny days in Oregon - because sunny days are as rare as salads that make me drool - which this did. Kudos for making such good food that we practically licked our plates clean. I mean, we didn't, because that's disgusting and rude - but the thought crossed my mind. As for parking, I haven't a clue whether there was a private lot or not. We parked on a side street down the road. Luckily the town is small so it wasn't far. On the flip side, we could have used the walk to burn off the calories.

I was really disappointed after my in-laws spoke so highly of here. Nice atmosphere and reasonable service, but it was the most bland and flavorless fish tacos I've had in a long time. Others in my group said their food was "fine". Overall it just wasn't special.

My friends, baby and I stayed in Cannon Beach for a couple days and we ate at a few restaurants. The Lumberyard was definitely my favorite. Great service and good food. My only small gripe is that their homemade applesauce is tastes like it's loaded with sugar. I ordered the baby buffet for my almost 1 year old son. He munched on cheeses, fruit, crackers and when I gave him some applesauce, his eyes lit up and got super excited!! After a few bites, I decided to try it for myself - tasted like pureed apple pie filling! I avoid giving him too much sugar, so needless to say - no more for him. :) But I really enjoyed my fish tacos and our shared nachos. Actually the nachos were super tasty!

After being told the place down the street had a two hour wait, we walked to the Lumberyard Rotisserie & Grill. And let me tell you, we were glad that we did! Right off the bat we were greeted by a super happy staff that chatted with us and let us know that dessert was on the house, since it was my birthday! Pretty neat right there! Then we quickly get seated and handed menus. Three out of the four of us have dietary restrictions, which can be an issue at some establishments, not this one! Our waitress didn't even bat an eye at our weird questions and requests. She went out of her way to make sure we had a great experience. I would definitely eat here again!

Was actually surprised at how good this place was. The rockfish burger was amazing. Lots of local brews on tap, as well. Really relaxing outdoor seating. Had a good time there; great food and atmosphere.

Awesome food, nice decor. The service was prompt and friendly. I just completed the epic head rigger 4x4 burger challenge! Got a free t-shirt and name on the wall.

Perfectly hit the spot after a hike in the nearby state park. Fast friendly service and a great meal. Bumbleberry cobbler was decadent but delicious!

Starters: peanuts (self serve) and skillet cornbread. The cornbread was good but served with a huge scoop of butter. Next time, I'll order without the slab-o-butter on top. For lunch I ordered the side salad with crab on top; the crab portion was 2.5 ounces and perfect. The salad itself was mixed greens and had shredded carrots, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers. I ordered the viniagrette on the side. Next time, I'll try a different dressing. Ambiance would have been better if we didn't have a table of screaming kids right next to us. Good place to catch a game, plenty of tv's; good view from both sides of our table.

This place is fantastic! While everything else nearby seems to be 30-50 bucks a person, Lumberyard is very reasonably priced; as you would expect from any restaurant which isn't situated in a tourist trap. The menu was expansive, and featured a lot of ingredients made fresh in-house.(That chili and cornbread! Mmm!) The waitstaff were all very polite, and the food was great. If you're in the area, you've got to stop by!

Stopped here for lunch. Cute patio and entire menu can be adapted for gluten free! The fish and chips were great. Kids menu and family friendly. Nice server who brought us cheese and crackers for free when our kid refused to eat lunch. Omission gluten free beer available.

My husband and I asked for dinner recommendations and the Lumberyard was high on the list. My husband had the special (Chicken pot pie and apple sauce) and I had a small Caesar salad. The food and service were great and we hope you will check it out.

The food and atmosphere was good. The service is why I give it 3 stars. It was around 1:00 on Sat., not that busy so it was disappointing that the service was not top notch. We had the Lumberjack Mac & Cheese --very creamy and Tillamook cheesy--and a wedge salad. The wine and beer selections were good. I was disappointed The Cellar was closed. We'd go back the next time we are in Cannon Beach to give it another whirl and try the skillet cornbread they're seemingly famous for. Hopefully the service will be better..

The service was great. Our waitress did what she could to keep us happy and we sincerely felt sorry for her. The skillet corn bread was made incorrectly so they gave that to us for free but it was dry, thin, and a little overcooked. Prime rib was okay but seriously over priced and the chicken sandwich was so overcooked it was hard to chew. Never going here again!

Fabulous service (Bren). We were told 25 minutes to be seated, but it was 10. Onion rings were the best we ever had. I highly recommend the Pepsi BBQ sauce. Kids had fish and chips; they were outstanding. Fish tacos were good but small pieces of fish-would have been better with the fish and chips fish. I would have paid more for more fish. Atmosphere was fantastic and price was reasonable.

Went here last night after unsuccessfully trying to get service at the Wayfarer. Though this restaurant was as busy as the Wayfarer, we were greeted and promptly sat at the bar by a very pleasant hostess. Our waiter came right over and introduced himself, took our drink orders and our food order within five minutes of us walking through the door. The service continued to be excellent and the American fare they serve was very good, well prepared and done the way we requested. My margarita was excellent and very strong. The staff here saved our evening as far as I'm concerned. We were told that the Lumberyard is owned by the same people that own the Wayfarer. Maybe the Wayfarer should send its restaurant waitstaff over here for some customer service training to see how it's done right. Thanks, Lumberyard. We'll continue to patronize you in the future. EDIT: Chose to lift the review from four stars to five because of the incredibly fast customer service response to this review from Vicki C of the Lumberyard. Exemplary and rapid turnaround. Thank you!

Unfortunately, I have to rate only a two. So disappointed with my visit last weekend. This was the third time my husband and I've been to the Lumberyard, this time we brought our closet friends. My friends husband, as well as myself, ordered their sirloin steak (30 dollar meal right there) absolutely terrible! We both asked for medium and received well done and hard as a rock. I advised our waiter of the issue so she kindly went and got another steak, brought it back not even 10 minutes later when the first time it took over 30 minutes. Sat the plate down and immediately I knew something was off. The meat was a slight grayish color, cut it open and it was medium done but took a bite and it was probably tougher than the first one they brought me. No flavor either. There were other things that made me not want to come back but I won't write a book. It's unfortunate we had this experience because I liked the place the first time we went. The meat was not good quality and it was so overpriced!

Service - 5 stars Food - 2 stars Hours - 4 stars Food was just fine! I ordered the chicken wing as the appetizer and it tasted like they just broil the chicken wings and dipping in the spicy sauce before it was served. The steak my husband ordered was just fine but I guess I could not ask for too much when the steak only costs me less than 30 bucks. However, it was the place it saved our starving stomachs when all other places were closed pass 9pm in the town. Excellent customer sercices though!!!!

We stopped in for dinner after we got to the coast. We were so disappointed we will never return to this restaurant. Despite seeming to have more than adequate staffing the service was horrible. We approached the hostess stand and no one was there. After a few minutes 3 staff members came up to the stand, although all of them made eye contact with my husband, no one greeted us or said that they would be right with us, Another couple came up to the stand just after us and they were placed on the waiting list before we were. The wait for a table was only a few minutes, once we were seated it was several minutes before we were brought any water or a menu. The waitress finally showed up and took our order. She did not ask if we wanted anything other than the water to drink, she did not ask if we would like an appetizer. She took the orders and left, the next time we saw her was when she delivered the food. We had only ordered the burgers but they were not anything special. The so called seasoning was apparently a bit of salt all in one spot on the burger. I upgraded to onion rings for 3.00, too bad they were over cooked. No one ever offered to refill our water or ask if we wanted a dessert. Avoid this place at all costs!

Good food and fair prices. Not a lot of menu choices, though. Had a 16oz prime rib. "Fresh veggie" side consisted of a small dish of canned corn. Nothing otherwise stood out as especially good or bad.

Very impressed walking into the place. Great decor. We are seated immediately at the table of our choosing. Hostess/waitress presents us with a large selection of local microbrews, even had several tastings before we decided on one. The attentiveness from the wait staff is second to none. A glance at the menu and our mouths begin to water. My wife orders the Pork sliders, I opt for the epic lumberyard burger. Sliders are decent (ask for a side of their Pepsi BBQ sauce for a slider dipping delight) Epic lumberyard burger not so epic. Very bland. The brioche bun left much to be desired. Bottom line: Cozy joint, great local beer selection, almost overly friendly wait staff, disappointed with food. Perhaps I had ordered the wrong meal. But I always believe that a good bar and grill is measured by the quality of their hamburger. We might be back.

I wish I could give less than one star. I called to place a carry out order, and a woman named Vicki answered the phone. I presume this was the manager. I was informed by her "I am sorry, but I can't take a carryout order I have a full restaurant and a wait list and my kitchen just can't handle it." I thanked her for the information and thus concluded my experience with the Lumberyard. This is the second time my husband I have tried to eat at this place. I will not be patronizing this place or even attempt to in the future. This was a Saturday night yes, but in March!

We recently stopped in at the Lumberyard twice during a visit to Cannon Beach. The first night was a Saturday and happened to be the annual Ladies Night Out celebration. Of course we had to wait for a table but all things considering the wait wasn't as bad as we expected. We are from So Cal and the wait there on that night would probably been much longer at a similar establishment. The Cornbread is as great as other reviewers have mentioned. Everyone enjoyed their pizza, sandwiches, and gave the Mac and Cheese others have panned 3 stars. The noise level was a little high as the women danced and screamed while the guitar player sang but from what we were told by Vicki (who appears to respond to many of the Yelp reviews) this is a once a year event. We did find it entertaining to watch everyone have fun. Our server, Matt did a very good job fulfilling our needs in a very crowded environment. The second night was much quieter. On this visit we sampled some of the deserts. They are definitely 5 star. I thought the Bread Pudding was excellent. On this visit Vicki was our server for part of the visit. When the coffee was found to be luke warm she quickly replaced it and later adjusted our bill. The staff here seems to care about the happiness of the customers. The only negative we found was that the prices were a little high but comparable to other restaurants in the area. It is a tourist location and when we go to these places we expect the prices to be higher than an urban location. We will go back.

Great place to catch a Pac12 football game while you're at the Coast (most hotels don't carry anything but ESPN). Great service, good food, nice big fireplace.

Being that we were traveling with our dog, finding dog-friendly places to eat was crucial. I'd heard that the Lumberyard accepts pooch patrons on their patio, so we stopped by for lunch while in Cannon Beach recently. I didn't even need to ask a server if our dog was welcome because, upon arriving, I spotted a stand on the patio with massive milkbones and individual water dishes for dogs. We were sold! After our waitress seated us and ooh'd and ahh'd over our dog, she brought water for both of us *and* the dog, as well as one of those huge milkbones for him (which he proceeded to chomp on under our table). The menu was pretty varied and, being that it's a rotisserie and grill, you can expect what most of the food will be like. We both ended up ordering the fish (halibut) and chips and it was, hands down, the best fish and chips I've ever had... minus the chips only because I usually don't eat the french fries so I'm not the best judge of what's good in that department. But my fish, though battered, was light and fluffy and ridiculously delicious. I had a Diet Pepsi (nice to see Pepsi products on tap rather than Coca-Cola for once) and he had a Bloody Mary. His Bloody Mary was fully loaded with olives, asparagus and celery - very impressive! All three of us were so happy with our experience at the Lumberyard, the very friendly service, great patio atmosphere and very reasonable prices for the great quality food. It'll definitely be a regular stop on our trips to Cannon Beach!

I have tried this place a few times. One time it was horrible so the manager gave us a gift certificate to try again. Tried again and it was okay. Just went back with the kids figuring the first time was a bad day. OMG...horrible!! Everything was beyond salty. I bloated up just thinking about it. I ended up leaving a full bloody mary and a burger with a few bites taken out of it. My daughter didnt like the clam chowder. It was bland. Never ever going back again.

We dropped in on a Sunday evening, they have a very nice wine tasting room. John, the wine expert shared his knowledge about numerous northwest wines, treated us to generous tastings, and helped us choose a nice bottle to enjoy with dinner. We weren't real hungry, so we chose salads with an appetizer, along with the Rockfish Burger to share. Service was attentive, the food was well above the norm, and prices were reasonable. We would return.

Really glad we chose this place to have lunch at. I liked the food a lot- agree with an earlier review that the corn bread is the best I've had as well. Alan was a gracious waiter and I witnessed Vicki working hard to please as well.

We decided to try the Lumberyard Grill for lunch on a recent trip to Cannon Beach. The inside of the restaurant was pretty empty compared to the front patio, but we decided to eat inside anyway. The clam chowder was excellent; while not the best I have ever sampled, it does come pretty close to being the top restaurant chowder I have had. I also ordered what I believe was a grilled chicken blt type sandwich on sourdough, which was very tasty as well. The portions were pretty large for the price and definitely filling. The only drawbacks were the minute amount of ketchup they are willing to supply for burgers and fries. We had to ask for more on several occasions, only resulting in the arrival of a slightly larger saucer dish, which could have easily been used by one person. The other issue was the service. It was decent when we arrived, but after we received the food, our waitress seemed to disappear for consistent 15 minute intervals, which did negatively impact our experience. When ordering items that are commonly used with ketchup, you should not have to wait almost 20 minutes for additional dipping sauces. Other than that, which is probably an isolated incident, the overall experience was very positive, and I would definitely eat here again.

We arrived late Sunday afternoon. Not extremely busy but waited a long time to place order. All drinks came fairly fast but one which came 10 minutes after meal was delivered. An order of chili was room temperature and had to be sent back. Bowl of clam chowder had a hair in it. All food was really bland. After waitress took order she disappeared. Someone else delivered food. After finishing dinner we waited half hour for bill and finally had to ask another server for it. Won't be coming back!

Fine for cannon beach food, for some reason (tourist trap) there doesn't seem to be a decent restaurant with good food in the whole area and they all want to over charge you for crap(I live in portland where the food is amazing). We had the burger, Mac and cheese, and corn bread. The corn bread is the only thing I would recommend. The burger was too thick (pink middle) and bland (especially for a $11 burger), the Mac and cheese was over cooked (grainy white/cheese sauce) pretty gross.

  • Keith R.

Service was horrible. Food was whatever; nothing special. Hostess was nice to us, but the waitress apparently had other things to do. The chicken pot pie was tasty. Cheeseburger was nothing special. Mac & cheese was bland. Ribs were fine. Pomegranate martini was done right.

We ate at Lumberyard twice during our visit to Cannon Beach, primarily because it had the best patio for bringing along our large dog. Like many places in Cannon Beach, it's dog friendly, with paper bowls for water and milk bones available. Our first experience, for lunch, was excellent. We tried the rockfish sandwich and a crab sandwich on special, both very good, plus an excellent triple berry cobbler for dessert. Decent Oregon beer selection on tap, with 25oz glasses for $7. Service was efficient and friendly. Our second experience, for Sunday dinner, did not go nearly as well. Our appetizer was forgotten (and thankfully cancelled). Trying to get a second glass of water was a comedy of errors -- the staff kept bringing it to the next table over, who'd send them away -- where we had to ask four times. Our server kept repeating that they were just really understaffed that night, and they did give us a small discount on the bill in the end for the inconvenience. The food was not as good the second time, either. The burger was only OK, not fantastic. The clam chowder was also fine, but not spectacular. We would go back if in Cannon Beach again, but mainly for the dog-friendly patio.

I have eaten at the Lumberyard Rotisserie & Grill twice now, and both experiences were fantastic! The quality and price of the food is very good---nice size portions at reasonable prices. The crab and artichoke dip is AMAZING! Also, the S'mores Dessert is unique and really tasty. Highly Recommend! My only suggestion would be to offer a few more seafood related entrees to the menu since you're located at the beach. I understand that the theme is more meat and comfort food oriented, but the variety would be a nice option. Overall, we love the place. I'll be back the next time we're in Cannon Beach. Keep up the good work! You guys rock!

Good service and mediocre food. Have sirloin steak and it was very tuff. Almost choked more than once. I had to cut it in tiny pieces to get through it. Salad and potato were ok. Nice place but their steak needs a lot of work.

First, I will mention that I, and my family have been frequent visitors of Cannon Beach for the past 4-5 years. We eat out quite a bit, both when we travel, and while at home. Lumberyard has never failed us. After reading quite a few of the reviews, I must admit, I find myself surprised. We have never had many of the experiences mentioned. Whether all could happen in a year's time, I cannot say. Randomly tonight, while perusing the internet, I decided to look up some of the favorite places in Cannon Beach, just to see if everyone was of the same consensus as our family. First, it shows an unbelievable amount of integrity and honorability for an owner, official, person to take the time to respond to many of the customers reviews. They could be really favorable or really negative. Either way, to respond to ANY of them, shows that this restaurant deserves some consideration. Now. To more personal matters. My family when we traveled always looked for a really good restaurant to eat at. My mom was one of the MOST picky people you could ever have the misfortune to eat with. We went to Bill's Tavern once, and she ordered something with avocados. Not a really big deal. They came out with some brownish avocados. Never ate there again. Why does this relate to the Lumberyard? You take a super picky person who will complain about something as small as some older avocados, who after that single meal will not return to the restaurant, and look at the history of her wanting to go continually to the Lumberyard, well... That should tell you something. They are more than accommodating to us. I don't know if it's because they recognize us, but we don't recognize any of them, or what the deal is, but they accommodate most to all of our requests. My mom would regularly order the Halibut. As one might expect, a typical sauce to be served with almost any fish is tartar sauce. My mom wanted this AND cocktail sauce. You probably would've seen me in the booth trying to cover my face from embarrassment at the changes she made to her order. Yet, the server, took everything in stride and listened to my mom's every request. First time the food came out- BAM- The entire order was correct despite my mom making about three changes to her order alone. I was impressed. Another thing that made me take special note of the Lumberyard was already mentioned before. The friendliness to the furry variety of the family. Regularly when we'd walk from Schooner's Cove Inn, to get dinner at the Lumberyard, we'd almost always see a dog out on the front porch. My family loves dogs. Being from Utah, not many places with the exception of some of PC, not many places allow dogs to even be tied up on the sidewalk. A new addition to the Lumberyard that impresses me even more is that they give water and milkbones. Excuse me, what? About the food. A ton of it is fantastic. Sadly, I will agree that the Mac and Cheese was not my favorite. Try the onion rings with BOTH of the sauces. Ask the server what's in the Barbecue sauce, why that's unique. I was surprised and delighted. The halibut is almost always good. I've had the chiliburger a couple times, and found it to MY liking. Has to have cheese though. Lots of cheese. I love me some cheese. My dad was the really experimental one. I believe at one point he had a Prime rib (Might've been a special or something, cannot remember the exact instance.) and loved it. He is an unofficial connoisseur of Prime Rib. The best dish that I ever remember though, which I could probably cry that it was a seasonal dish was the "Bumbleberry Cobbler" My goodness. It was like taking summer and slapping it into a dish and then serving it up. Never had a better dessert in most of Oregon let alone Cannon Beach. The one complaint that I would respectfully submit would probably be the hours. Since my dad works a lot in Utah, we usually would have to go for only a week. We'd try and maximize our vacation by flying out to PAX the previous Friday, driving out on Saturday, then staying a week and flying home the following Sunday. If memory serves, they have some days during the week when they are closed. It seems like some of them were at strange times, like a Tuesday. Whatever, I'm fine with that. I will continue to frequent the Lumberyard whenever I find myself back in Cannon Beach. If given the opportunity, I would even work there, I have that high of an opinion of them. (Problem would be that a lot of my paycheck would probably go towards the food there.) Thanks, and warmest regards from SLC

Stopped at the Lumberyard after getting back from a hike and finding several other restaurants closed. I wasn't really feeling it because it felt like any other typical Claim Jumper-like restaurant (jack of all trades, ace of none). Our waitress was very nice but seemed to be managing a large area, our section of the dining room and the patio, so service was just a tad slow. Started with an appetizer of frickles (fried pickles) and they were pretty good. Honestly could have gotten the same from Hooter's. After that I got their Lumberyard Burger, because I was very hungry. It did fill me up, but it was a very normal burger...didn't blow me away. A very important point that I discovered while eating my burger- they don't have ketchup bottles. If you're a ketchup aficionado like me, you'll have to ask for cup after cup of ketchup. If I had known that I wouldn't have gotten a burger, oh well. The redeeming factor of the place was their dessert. When I asked for a dessert menu, the waitress brought out a display tray of their five desserts- impressive. I chose their S'mores Bake, which was basically a s'mores baked in a pan. The marshmallows were crisped to perfection. It was very sweet and very delicious. If I ever came back, it would be for the dessert.

Made it just in time for happy hour. THEY HAVE FRIED PICKLES. The bar waitress was super sweet. I'd come back here just for the killer service. And the fries were delicious too.

There are not a ton of places to eat in Cannon Beach so we have ended up here a few times and have never had a problem. The food is good but nothing I would jump through hoops for. Drinks are typical.

Awesome place. It's always full at dinner which is a good sign. Never leave disappointed. Not sure why the menu is different every time I go here which is about once a year. But the food and service are great.

Went in for lunch for chowder and mac and cheese. It was decent food, but the prices were sort of high and the service was very bad. Our waitress seemed aloof and then it took forever to get the check. Nice inside, but I will never go back.

Meh.. Mediocre food at tourist prices.. We went on a Saturday Night at about 7 so we expected them to be a little busy.. We waited about 20 min for a table (not bad) but the wait for food was the bad part.. I went out on a limb and ordered the Prime Rib Special for $24.. About 30-40 minutes after the order was placed.. The waiter informs me they are out of baked potatoes and asks if I would rather have French fries.. Not giving me any other options.. So 15-20 minutes later I received my meal.. The meat was a good cut, nice and tender... However, pretty flavorless and the horseradish served with it had zero bite to it.. I'm sure this meal might excite the right person but it was Denny's quality at high prices..

I really enjoy the Lumberyard. I mean, it's not MIND-BLOWING, but it's just one of the ol' stand-by restaurants that you can always count on in Cannon Beach. It's big, it's comfortable and they have some great menu choices. Additionally, they have a nice selection of local craft beer that is very, very cold. Some of my favorite menu items: Skillet Cornbread: holy cow, is this fantastic. They serve it with some honey cream butter, but we always get it on the side, since Mrs. Brian I. doesn't like dairy products. I actually prefer it this way, because it allows me to slather each piece that I slice off with this sticky goodness. SLURP. Lumberyard Rib-Eye Chili: also fantastic. It's on the side of "sweet" chili. It's not spicy at all. So, armed with that knowledge, order away. The texture of the rib-eye really compliments the beans, peppers and onions in this stuff. Unfortunately, I've been forbidden from ordering this by the wife, as it has some uh... unintended side effects that linger throughout the evening and even into the next day. Dangit! Cannon Beach Halibut Burger: Outstanding. One of the best fish sandwiches I've eaten anywhere. Crisp, fresh halibut and a unique tartar sauce (some kind of dill?) make this a must-have at the Lumberyard. I'm not a huge fan of their fries but... who cares what the side is with this sandwich. It's great! I've had a few of their other menu items and they've certainly been fine, but those 3 above have always stood out.

A pretty run of the mill bar and grill. Our experience wasn't really outstanding, nor terrible at the same time. The macaroni and cheese appetizer was a good consistency, however, it was underseasoned. The rockfish steverino again was cooked well, but again underseasoned. The BBQ chicken salad was the best dish of the night. The ingredients were crisp, the salad was well dressed and the chicken had a good BBQ flavor without being overpowering. The environment was lively and the patio was nice to sit in on a warn summer evening.

My favorite place in Cannon to watch a game while dining and drinking. Lot's of TVs, great wait staff, and all the stuff you need (big beers of many flavors, Bloody Maries, nachos, corn bread, burgers, fish tacos, skillet corn bread) to help you get through a day of watching the 'hawks gag up a playoff game.

Hip Hip Hooray for Lumberyard Grill! I showed up at 7:00pm NYE with 2 kids in tow and they were more than accommodating. Seating us within 20 minutes (quoted 1 hour) and the service was great. Food was yummy and prices decent.

Pretty good food. Ribs were a little dry but flavorful.....my friend got the chicken which was also a little dry. We shared a Mac and cheese which could have added more cheese and flavor. The dessert special was tasty. When it's busy, the wait can be very long. Friendly service and very good local beer.

If I ever find myself back in Cannon Beach needing some good beers, this is where I'll come. According to my brother (beer connoisseur), the selection was surprisingly well edited, with many Oregon brews available. What surprised me most were the prices. Pints here are cheap - even for the good stuff. I wish the food had been as reasonably priced, since I picked up the tab, but $10-15 per person for lunch isn't outrageous for a sit-down meal in a tourist town. I got the Rotisserie Turkey Club and I thought it was delicious. Turkey, bacon, sourdough bread, avocado, honey mustard - all sorts of deliciousness. It was one of those meals where you are stuffed but want to keep eating because it tastes so good. I wish I could get that sandwich again. The fries were also really good - thin and extra crispy, like I like 'em. My niece got the kids mac and cheese with a side of the homemade applesauce (also offered instead of fries). I'm glad I didn't order it, but it was nice to try - definitely homemade but with some sort of sourness that I couldn't place. Definitely not the super-sweet stuff you get out of a jar. Others ordered the pork sliders and the halibut burger, and finished them off with no complaints. I'm a bit surprised at some of the really negative reviews about the food. Maybe we just ordered well, or maybe there was a change in the kitchen. Regardless, I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before we went, since it might have turned us off to this place, and I would have missed out on my sandwich deliciousness. The atmosphere isn't anything memorable, but it is very kid-friendly, at least during the day. All the tables I saw from my vantage point had kids, though it wasn't loud. Our server was appropriately attentive and took it in stride when the 4-year old had a meltdown.

We were seated quickly on, what appeared to be a busy night. The restaurant was clean, even close to closing. Jen was our server. She was perfectly knowledgable on all aspects of the menu & prompt to ask if we had any questions about the menu as she took our drink order.

Food good. But. WAY overpriced, even for a coastal resort town. $75 for a small family of 3 for lunch! $19 for fish and chips with four small nuggets of fish. Yeow.

ok the cornbread is amazing and makes me seriously want to drive all the way from beaverton just to eat it! The rest of the menu is great too. Warning they are huge portions.. so think about sharing :)

"Honey, I feel like going out to dinner tonight. Someplace with decent food, but not great food, and really sub par service so we don't feel obligated to leave a big tip." "Sounds like we should to go to Lumberyard!" "Wait, is the service really slow?" "It moves at glacial pace." "Will they forget about my beer but then bring it our right before serving dessert?" "Of course." "If I order BBQ sauce will they bring it out cold so it kind of ruins your baby back ribs?" "Well, that's what they did last time we went." "Oh that's right. They also forgot about the flatbread. It would have been nice to finish that crab and artichoke dip. It was pretty good." "Yeah. It also would have been nice to have silverware provided with our entrees, but I guess it's fun to watch people try to figure out how to eat without it, huh?" "Yeah. They must really have fun with that because they didn't provide silverware with dessert either." "The good thing is that they did give us about 45 minutes to figure out what we wanted for dinner, though I gkinda ot the impression the waiter forgot about us." "Oh yeah...that's right. You know, maybe we should just make Hot Pockets in our dirty microwave." "That sounds fantastic."

terrible service/server. Wtf is a veggie burger without veggies? Totally paid attention to the larger group ordering tons of drinks presumably because of the larger tip. They don't give out bottles of ketchup...ugh. I came here once for breakfast and it was personable and great...this totally takes away from that experience though. Waitress didn't ask us how our food was until we were ready for our check. I don't really know what else to say, I realize this is a grill place but it's probably also getting a lot of portland and tourist visitors who are vegetarian, etc. We actually eat more than veggie burgers with crappy lettuce and salads!

  • Evil S.

The chowder, skillet corn bread, s'mores pie and fish dishes were great and the service was very friendly. The only thing that I might knock them for is their bland burgers. I got a 'chili burger' and the chili was great but the burger actually took away from the flavor it was so bland (edit: I should clarify and state that the burger was dry/bland kind of like if you just took a hunk of hamburger and cooked in the microwave. If I had to guess, either the meat is too high a grade (90+) or some clarified butter needs to be tossed into the pan/grill while the burger is cooking. It may have just been the chili burger, I'll check it out again at some later date ;-).

We Love their Chili-Cheese Fries from their dinner menu! We came here recently during our trip to Cannon Beach right after Christmas. We got into town late and were looking for a place to eat on a weekday. Luckily, these guys were still open. (They were referred to us by a local convenience store, and it turned out to be great advice)! We stopped in their lounge to have a cold beer and some appetizers. Everything was great! We are now fans!

Despite the friendly and competent server, we were really disappointed at the Lumberyard. It was relatively busy-which was to be expected during spring break-but it was Sunday at 7:45, so not terribly crowded. I ordered a cup of coffee for my drink and it was brought to me at room temperature. Waitress apologized profusely and 10 minutes later she brought me a hot cup. My daughter said her strawberry lemonade was so sweet, she never drank it after the first sip. For my meal, I ordered the halibut fish and chips. Grossly overpriced for the quality. Large pieces, but the breading was soggy and only room temperature I peeled it all off and ate the fish plain. The inside of the fish was warmer, but very plain. Fries were medium warm. My daughter had the crab ravioli. Crab was plentiful and good. Sauce was excellent, but the ravioli itself was room temperature. (See a trend here?) I did not speak to the waitress about the quality, because quite frankly, I felt bad for her! She appeared to have 1/2 the restaurant on her own. She was busy the entire time, so never even had a chance to check back with us after she dropped off the food. I'm guessing the kitchen was either understaffed, or the food had been prepared too far in advance and was no longer crisp, fresh, seasoned or hot. No one was out front to speak with when we left either. This was suppose to be our one "nice" dinner out during or rare mother daughter trip-and we were really disappointed in the quality. Definitely not worth the prices for what we had.

This is a large pub style restaurant located at the site of a former lumberyard in Cannon Beach. The choices for food and drink were fine for lunch and portions were more than adequate. Pizza, salad and beers were what we had, and we were not disappointed.

What's not to love about the Lumberyard! We've eaten dinner there four or five times now and it's been awesome every time. We ate in the restaurant once, and the bar every other time... I feel like the service is a little more attentive in the bar. I love the turkey dinner and to be honest- everything there is delicious!! WHATEVER YOU DO, save room for the best dessert ever - their Smores Skillet!!! I'm normally too full for dessert but we've had this twice. We were there last week (and the year before) for my birthday and were treated to the Smores Skillet as a birthday treat both times. I dream about this dessert constantly! The restaurant seems to be very family friendly and the whole place is just comfortable. Service is always excellent and we love it there!

The last time I was here, my husband and I had just hiked a trail in Ecola State Park. It was a warm, sunny September evening and the patio seating called to us. We each had a hearty meal, him - a prime rib dinner, and me - the turkey dinner. The prices were a tad high, and the service a bit slow. However, it wasn't a bad experience, just a little average. Overall, it was a pleasant way to unwind after our little excursion in the beautiful Cannon Beach. ________________________ I do have one question for Scott, however. My husband and I will be back next week, and we've finally been able to adopt a lovely dog, whom we will be bringing on our trip. ANY chance you can accommodate us with Happy Hour menus on the patio? We'd love to bring our best pal.

Between 3 and 4 stars, I round up to 4 because the skillet cornbread is really, really good and served piping hot with creamy butter and honey. Rest of the food was standard, like most of the other reviewers indicate. The chicken noodle soup was great, especially on a cool outdoor evening sitting on their patio, but $6.99 for a bowl was a bit much. I'd come back if they had chicken pot pie the next time i was in town (during my visit, they only had turkey pot pie).

Stanford's meets coastal town. The restaurant sits at the entrance of Canon Beach's north side. It's enormous, situated on the main strip. Our host was a sweet, older gentlemen; who retired from a law firm. He's entertainingly funny. The food was okay, nothing spectacular. We ordered a variety of dishes. Very typical coastal menu - fish and chips, clam chowder, salad, etc. The most amazing dish was the s'more in a skillet. Quite creative. Clean atmosphere with outdoor siting; would be great on a sunny day.

Friendly service, decent draft beer selection, delicious roasted half chicken although the vegatable on the side were overcooked and soggy. Arrived at 8:30 on a Saturday night and were the last customers eating, but that apparently is just Cannon Beach in February.

The Lumberyard was a great way to wrap up a wet, cold day on the coast. There's a good selection of local Oregon beers and some of the standard imports, too. I had a stein of Copper Ale to get settled in. I split the nachos with my parents to start. They were a decent size, extra cheesy, and loaded with toppings- I love when the guac lasts as long as the chips. I had the steamer clams. They were well-prepared in a tasty garlicky broth with plenty of lemon. The tomato and onion in the broth made it a more well-rounded, full meal. Another reviewer commented on sandy, gritty clams but that wasn't the case today! Both of parents had the halibut dinner - one pesto, one cajun, and they both raved throughout the meal --Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, well-proportioned and flavorful. Our server was fantastic, too. She was attentive but not over-bearing. She was friendly and gave us great recommendations while running a busy section. Our waters never got empty and plates were cleared promptly. Great service!

I will confess that I had no intention of eating here during my early April stay at the coast, not because I don't love a good burger and wings, but because I thought there were better "local" options to choose from. Using Yelp as our guide, we initially chose Sweet Basil's Cafe and the attached Wine Bar for our Sunday night dinner, in part because they had live music that night and in part because they claim to support local farmers and serve fresh and organic foods. We showed up a little before 6pm on a Sunday to find both sides about 1/2 full, we sat, we ordered wine and then we proceeded to wait... and wait... and wait. over 1 hour later, the first of two tapas was brought out and it was nothing to get excited about, bland and tepid eggplant. Another 20 minutes passed before our second tapas was delivered and to our dismay featured CANNED artichokes as one of it's two main ingredients. (Extremely disappointing since we had just seen artichokes at the PSU farmers market on Saturday out of Tillamook, guess those were too fresh and too local?) We ended up paying and leaving before ever getting the main course and instead came to the Lumberyard where we were greeted with FANTASTIC service and prompt food delivery. We sat in the bar where we ordered the No Pity Burger and a few wings. The burger was delivered cooked well (not well done, but still moist and pink in the middle like it should be) and just as described. I like my wings spicy hot, which is hard to find in the NW and their wings were no different, they had a bit of spice and good flavor but were by no means spicy. Tasty none the less though. They have a decent selection of liquors and we made our own flight of whiskeys because that is how we roll. Overall, I was more than pleasantly surprised at the environment, the choices and most of all the service and would go back in a heart beat for some really decent bar food. Thank you Lumberyard for salvaging a terrible dining experience at the Coast!

The food was good, but ther service left room for a great deal of improvement. It took almost 20 min before they brought water to the table, and upon arrival 2 were broken/cracking and one started to break when there server removed it from the table. You can't beat their 25oz PBRs for $3. Their happy hour menu is pretty good too. Update: Really appreciate Scott & his responses to the review. I'll be sure to come back again next time we're in town.

We come to Cannon Beach every year and have always looked forward to eating here. We checked in at 8pm last night and was hungry and excited to order the cornbread! That came out with a big slab of butter- tasted great however the presentation was not what we were used to. My friend ordered the iceberg salad with crab-the presentation was horrible and lack of excitement and talent. I ordered the chicken which was dried but I was so hungry I had to eat it. The baked potato had a gummy texture and it was a dark/mold color which made us think it was old and rotten. My vegetables were over cooked and when I asked for a new order, it came out over cooked as well. This was a total disappointment as the cooks had no care for any products delivered last night. It was as if it was closing time and they wanted to get out more than they wanted to fulfill the needs of the last few tables. We asked to speak with a manager and the supervisor came out instead. Her name was Joanne- and she handled our issue very well. She wanted to take care of our tab but we wanted to pay for the cornbread and make sure the server was tipped as both of those were the only good part of this experience. Joanne apologized and made the situation a little better and if it was 't for her- we would have left very upset. However- we left this place hungry and with a bad taste. We will most likely not be coming back here which is the sad part as it has been part of our visit for so many years.

Disclaimer: I had been drinking champagne all day before coming to eat here. Don't judge, it was vacation :) But I may have been a little tipsy during the experience. The Lumberyard is a cozy family-style restaurant with good food and friendly service. Very standard, nothing that blew me absolutely away. Boyfriend got a flight of beers, which made him really happy. He enjoyed one of the local brews so much, he ordered a pint to go with his fish and chips, which he declared "yummy." I got the steamer clams, which were listed on the menu as coming with "garlic rosemary flatbread." My clams were pretty good, not the best I've ever had, but there's definitely stars being deducted because it got served with dinner rolls, like, straight out of a grocery store package... Where was my flatbread?! Not impressed when I'm paying over $20 for my entree. For the quality of the food, I'd say it was slightly overpriced, but I'd definitely consider coming back. Also, good to note if you're a tourist - lots of places in Cannon Beach are closed on Tues/Weds, including this one it seems. FYI.

We always eat here at least one night during our annual trip to CB. The service and food were great here as usual. I love their corn bread and BBQ chicken pizza. There were 11 of us and no one had an issue with cold food or the wrong order. The server was quick and around at least4 times. A mix up of items on our separate bills delayed our departure, but that was really minor. We will be back!

Our family ate at the Lumberyard yesterday evening after a day at the beach. We had our dog Nellie with us and were looking for a dog-friendly place. They treated our dog very nicely bringing her a biscuit and bowl of water. Our kids ordered an all natural hot dog and homemade applesauce. They loved it. My husband ordered a bowl of Chili and a side salad. I ordered the BBQ Chicken Salad. We all enjoyed our food and the friendly service. Our waitress was busy so the general manager stepped in and helped her out with a smile on her face. No complaints. This was a great experience for the entire family including our pup. We will eat at the Lumberyard again one our next visit to Cannon Beach.

Good food (we tried the philly cheese steak and halibut sandwich) and yummy cocktails, perfect for a lunch with my favorite lady. Only complaint was that it seemed to be a little over priced (maybe it was a "beach" thing). Service was decent, as expected. I loved the outdoor seating and especially the garden off to the side of it with lovely sitting areas and huge overflowing beds of flowers. I would give it's garden and landscaping 5 stars for sure.

Had a decent meal there on a very stormy day at the beach. Good food, beach higher end prices. Excellent service and a good beer list. The best part though... I accidentally left my credit card there when we left. Not a card I use often so I did not notice for over a week I called when I finally realized and Vickie who answered was very helpful. Found my card and offered to mail it back to me. She went out of her way to go to the post office and drop it in the mail same day. Outstanding service.

had lunch here first day at Cannon Beach, was not impressed. Food wasn't bad but wasn't something I would remember after a few weeks. It reminded me of the type chain restaurants (like Claim Jumpers or similar), large portions and generic food that is seasoned and made for all tastes. If you want safe food, eat here, if you want to try something new good or bad, please try a different restaurant. I can't recommend this place, unless you absolutely love Claim Jumpers, then this is your restaurant.

The Lumberyard is a reliable go to place for us. It is within walking distance from our hotel where we stay every year and we can sit outside with the dog. The burgers are great. The steaks are great. The drinks are amazing. what's not to like!

Three of us got there early and took pics in their pretty court yard out front. We made our way to the bar to get cocktails before the rest of our group. Good service and drink! Alan was our server and he was great! Ryan also came by, he was a nice guy! I was with a group of 5. My best friend and I got two entrees and we split them. I got the chicken club w/ a salad and she got the fish sandwich w/ fries it was such a great meal!!! They were both so tasty. My friend ended up getting one of the sweatshirts that says happiness happens at the lumberyard. And the staff was so helpful in getting the right size for her. They have a big parking lot. They open at 12 until close. I believe they are closed Tuesday and Wednesday though. Overall it was great food and service!

Nice place with decent prices. We've spent the lsst few days in Portland eating at some pretty high end restaurants and the food here was on par with them for much less. Clam chowder was great as was the fish and chips. Good service as well.

We had eaten at several restaurants and delis in Cannon Beach and most meals and service were good to great, so we decided to try the Lumberyard Rotisserie & Grill after most of our family members had returned home and we were on our own in Cannon Beach for two days. Arrived at the Lumberyard at just before 1 PM on a Wednesday. Escorted to a table outside on the patio as soon as we arrived and were given menus and water. Then we waited 15 minutes and were not too concerned. Then we waited 20 minutes and started to think it doesn't look too busy, what could be the problem? Waiters came and went at other tables, but had the blank look that doesn't see you that says, "you are not my table". After nearly a half hour not being offered a drink or anything, we decided to leave, but did complain to the manager, who offered to buy our meal (to her credit). Who would want to eat in that environment. Every waiter in the place by this time was glaring at us like we had disrupted their day. We left and went to a local sandwich shop and had very tasty tomato basil soup and a half sandwich for our late lunch.

Love love love the atmosphere of this place! The food was pretty good, better than I expected. Their cornbread is cooked in a skillet and served to you that way. Soooo good. Oh, such a cozy, yummy place. Props to the fantastic bartender--she knew EVERYthing about EVERY beer and even stepped away from the bar to see when our table might be ready. We let the manager know what a friendly, knowledgeable bartender she had! We asked for and got the table right in front of the river rock fireplace. The place smelled fantastic. All the servers were smiling, and the manager was singing! Big, tasty portions of food on the menu. We watched plate after plate of food piled high pass us by. There are a couple of burgers on the menu--one is a "2x4" and another is a "4x4" which are, respectively, two 1/4-pound patties or four 1/4 pound patties. Husband had the 2x4 which was PLENTY big. He subbed onion rings and got a side salad and practically had to roll out of the place. I had a big bowl of great clam chowder and a prawn Caesar salad--both fantastic. We had no room for dessert, but I saw some yummy-looking sundaes go by. I'd love to drive from Portland tomorrow just to go back for lunch...alas, the boss probably won't let me have half a day off, but the Lumberyard would totally be worth it.

We go to the Lumberyard just about every time we visit Cannon Beach. The outside seating is pretty convenient when we have our dog with us, or when the weather is nice like it was today. It took a little while for us to get our food, but overall it was pretty good. I had the chili (which was excellent) and a side salad.

I Came here after hearing about it on yelp. I got the Epic Burger, and epic it was! The French fries it came with were delicious as well. We came with a group of 7, we all got something different and not one of us were disappointed. Excellent selection of draft beers too!

Yes I did, I gave this place a 1 star. Sadly, the only thing I enjoyed here aside from the fact that it had A/C which pointed at my feet while I stood next to the seat (I wonder if people just walk in with smelly feet after the walk through Ecola State Park) was the Beer and the fact that for a 25 oz stein of their IPA for $6.50. Other than that, everything was crap. The menu was very unattractive and the prices farrrrr beyond reason. I would never in the right mind choose to eat here, but the fact that we arrived into Cannon Beach late just forced us into the situation we were presented, that is............eat here. Surprisingly, we were a party of 5 and all we ordered were salads and soups with beers.....so cheap....so asian. I bet the server had in her mind that we were a bunch of cheap asians. But with a burger costing $13 in Oregon?? a side large salad for $9??, this has got to be the biggest rip off in the Oregon Coast. For the 5 of us, we had the following: -Grilled Chicken Burger with Cole Slaw and a side salad (for $3) -Side of Tillamook Mac and Cheese - you have got to be kidding me if this is cosidered Mac and Cheese. It's just mushy pasta, water, and a sprinkle of salt and dash of butter. Where's the taste of cheese? Where's the creaminess? All these questions yet nothing can be done to replace my wasted time and stomach space for such a sad side dish bearing the name to such a great cheese making establishment (one that I had come from just prior to this visit) -2 Bowls of Rotisserie Chicken Noodle Soup - the Bowl is just a way to make 1.5x the Cup sound bigger; and the noodle was mushy, and I'd like to get a test on that so called "Rotisserie Chicken"....exactly how much of that chicken is rotisseried? The rest of my family had other salads too, but just seems that even for a backup place with low expectations (compared to our targeted Ecola Seafood Restaurant) it really came back surely less than our low expectations.

Yes it was a busy weekend in Cannon Beach, but the service was ridiculously horrible. Slow and incompetent. The food was average, the wine list sucked and I hate myself for waiting 30 minutes to eat here. I would not go back. It was very cookie cutter, kinda like the RAM restaurant, but with no personality and worse food.

  • E. J. S.

If this place were anywhere else, I would probably give it 2-3 stars. But, in Cannon Beach, where the food options are surprisingly lacking, it gets 4. The place has kind of a Chain restaurant feel to it, and it might just be in OR. The food is decent, the place is clean, I have always had good service. I guess I like it, not because it is amazing, but because it is predictable. Yes the price is high, but you are in a tourist town, get used to getting gouged or cook at home.

Great menu selection. We eat several times here every year we visit Cannon Beach! This visit the fettucine was delicious; no overcooked noodles in a pasty sauce- it was creamy and flavorful with onions and mushrooms. My husband ordered nachos with sirloin steak (no traditional hamburger option) and was pleasantly surprised. The nachos were not soggy, and they don't skimp on the toppings like some restaurants. Salsa and guacamole was fresh! The pizza and appetizers are always tasty as well. We love the Lumberyard!

I was pleasantly surprised by this super generic looking bar on the north side of Cannon Beach. We walked in early on Saturday hoping for a quick snack and a drink -- and enjoyed two tasty beer samplers (Lumberyard isn't a Brewery, but had a great selection of Oregon beers and a super knowledgeable bartender) and a delicious grilled chicken quesadilla! Everyone around us looked happy and satisfied, the burgers walking by looked AMAZING. My only complaint was that the interior was super dark, but the outside seating was all plastic and right on the road. Would *definitely* go back for dinner sometime, but probably wont hit it for happy hour or lunch again.

Arrived at the restaurant after checking into the hotel that gave us a wristbands for a free meal here for our grandson. Got our menus and decided on dinner. Discovered my husband got a lunch menu and I got a dinner menu....which we did not know until after we picked out what we wanted to order. Nice waiter Josiah went to ask kitchen if we could get a sandwich - BLT - and it was okayed. Got said sandwich only to discover a tiny sliver of tomato was on the second half of sandwich. The bread was hardly toasted and couldn't have been more thinner. Mayo was slapped on it and the lettuce was pathetic. I mentioned this to the nice waiter. He apologized. A few minutes later, this woman shows up with a name tag that says her name is Vicki and a manager. She talks to us and asks if I would like some tomato added to my pathetic sandwich. Really? Ummm no. She rudely picked up the plate, mentions she will charge us for only half a sandwich and huffed away. What a manager....no apologies. We have gone to that restaurant for years when it was Clark's and now The Lumberyard has really gone downhill. Prices are so high for what one gets. Where's the chicken noodle soup? Won't be back. Pretty sad. Josiah the waiter was the saving grace of our visit....

Environment/Service: 3 Stars Food: 2 Stars Booze: 3 Stars Summary: Consider this a fall-back (fall WAY back) if you're too late for a reservation anywhere better and you want some ribs and a brew. Environment/Service: A big restaurant (at least compared to most in Canno Beach, they can accomodate large parties, last minute walk-ins and have a large bar area. The decor is entertaining with the lumbyeryard motif and some local art. They have a good patio with plenty of shade that looks out over the street (which isn't busy enough to be a turn-off). The service is fair, with a "let me do my job and we'll make the most of this" attitude. Food: The food isn't a highlight, burders are pre-made, the rotisserie is a little dry with simple rubs or sauces, sides are out of a jar/can without real flavor. Kids menus are simple fare mostly from the fryer, and generally bland but filling. Booze: In fairness to the Lumberyard, they have a decent set of handles, even including the Vortex IPA from Fort George in Astoria (GREAT NW-style IPA), but the staff doesn't know anything about them and the rest of the wine and spirits menu is right out of TGI-McFunsters (green colada anyone?).

Great food, enjoyed it and had a great time. We arrived during what seemed like peak hours, but we were seated immediately at the bar area, which consisted of the two of us at a high table with tall stools. The server came right away and was pleasant and attentive. We got a house salad to start out which was average to good. It had sunflower seeds on it which was a nice touch. The entrees were excellent. My dad had the BBQ'd pork ribs which were amazing. He got a full rack and ate almost all of them. They were perfectly cooked and the ribs were meaty and tasty. The half order is still a lot of meat, he just enjoyed them so much he kept going on the other half. I got salmon which was served on an alder plank with aioli sauce. The salmon was moist and flaky. The vegetables were were green beans and carrots which were very good. We both got strawberry lemonade and it was refreshing! There were pieces of strawberry in the bottom of the glass. The prices were fair for the food. The plates were a bit over $20 each, but that's about par for a tourist town in the middle of the season. We felt like it was worth the money and the drive from Manzanita.

My honey and I tried this place out on our visit to Cannon Beach for dinner and the outcome of our experience was great! We ordered the hot wings and beer battered onion rings for appetizers and then decided on the pork loin chop for our main dish. I wasn't too impressed with the pork loin chop's presentation. It looked like someone just slapped the meat onto my plate and called it "done!". The meats' thickness was like 3 pork chops stacked all into one & it was a bit under-cooked. I'm giving it a 4 star just because our appetizers were awesome and the service wasn't bad. The waiters were friendly and stayed very attentive throughout our dinner. I would definitely try this place out again with a different choice for my main dish though.

An awesome restaurant in Cannon Beach! We had ordered the nachos for an appetizer but I was dissappointed with the type of cheese they used... It dried up by they time it came to us.. almost like they just used cheese slices or something... the Cherry Limeade drink made up for it... Thats was super good... Hubby ordered the lumberyard steack special and was dissappointed by the size of it... too small for a big belly... I was satisfied with my baby back ribs... I guess you can say they are shy on the portions for the entrees... I wanted dessert but they showed us the actual size and I knew I couldn't finish the smores one so I picked off my hubbys' 4 berry cobbler... he loved that... our waitress was great... we'd come back again....

My True Love and I drove down from Seattle for a little get-a-away weekend. Our favorite restaurant wasn't open so we looked at our options and ended up at the Lumberyard. The place wasn't busy and we got seated right away. The place and menu had a "Claim Jumper"-ish feel to it. But, when the food came out, we were blown away! The skillet cornbread was incredible, nibbling on it all the way through the meal (and wanting more!). I had a turkey dinner which was moist and full of flavor. My True Love had the pot pie with turkey. She prefers chicken over turkey but was delighted with her meal! We both agreed that we were grateful for the circumstances that allowed us to try the Lumberyard. We will definitely add this place to our list of "must visit" destinations when we are in Cannon Beach!

Nothing wrong with this place... they were able to seat our party of 7 (5 adults, 2 kids) in a booth near a TV to catch the last game of the final four. Service was extremely attentive and the food was decent (although I thought the coleslaw JP had as his side was incredible). Great selection of beer...I tried the Vortex which I really enjoyed. Cornbread and onion rings were ordered for the table to share... I normally don't like onion rings but these were pretty tasty (BBQ and ranch were served as the sides). Entrees ordered ranged from fish and chips, the 2x4 burger, pot pie, ribeye, cheese pizza, peanut butter and jelly (which was apparently too heavy on the jelly! ha) and a quesadilla. JP enjoyed the burger, but it was huge and he couldn't finish it. (which says a lot). My potpie was okay... definitely more soupish than creamy (and could have used some more salt or seasoning), but it hit the spot after a long day of hiking. I substituted a salad for the applesauce so I can't comment on that. Downside: the kid's cheese pizza order didn't get placed with the rest of the entrees so it came out after everyone else had been served and was eating. Prices were high on some items, but this is a tourist town after all. They have outdoor seating which would be great in warmer weather. All in all I would say not a bad place to end up with a group, especially if there are kids involved.

Good food, but prices are too high. Halibut fish and chips were good, but not $16 good. The good news is that portions are large and can be shared.
